Did I miss where this was the Special Olympics and they were cheering everybody because they all tried real good?

Next person that says affirmative action is reverse racism gets smacked.
Best to just dissolve affirmative action and make like it was just a bad bout of the squirts we had for the last 10 years or so.
I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on whats being proposed here, hed agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute. - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

Who really knows?
Maybe you all should get together and write a rule book that we can refer to about when it's ok to chant USA and when it's not. LOL

    That's hardly the point.

Why should a chant of USA be antagonistic to anyone in the US?
It may perhaps have been a display of prejudice, viewing the Latino players on the other team as alien or "the other." It's just peculiar that such a chant would crop up at a high school basketball game, where people usually cheer for the team.
Nobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.

Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.

All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

Once again, beside the point. It's not about when it's "okay" to chant USA, it's about why such a chant occurred in that particular context and the motivations behind it.

No, no, you win. Chanting USA is now exactly the same thing as chanting, "Heil Hitler"

That would be the gayest "Go Team" ever. Who knew republicans were such douchebags? I vow to never go to a sporting event with a republican. I don't want to be seen with the weird guy starting USA chants and trying to get people to say the National Anthem while Cam Newton is breaking out for a 40-yard touchdown run.

You guys can keep that ****.

Maybe the problem isn't so much how people meant it, as how people took it. I live somewhere where there's a large Mexican cultural influence. I see Mexican flags and bumper stickers and little pro-Mexico dangly things on rear view mirrors, and it's never occurred to me to take offense at any of it.
