Do you see Obama on the same level as Ghandi and Mandela?

"The civil rights movement was hard. Winning the vote for women was hard. Making sure that workers had some basic protections was hard," President Obama said at a fundraiser while talking about how difficult it is to bring about "change" in politics.

"Around the world, Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, what they did was hard. It takes time. It takes more than a single term. It takes more than a single president. It takes more than a single individual," Obama said.

"What it takes is ordinary citizens who keep believe, who are committed to fighting and pushing and inching this country closer and closer to our highest ideals. And I said in 2008, 'that I am not a perfect man and I will not be a perfect president.' But I promised you, but I promised you, I promised you back then that I would always tell you what I believe. I would always tell you where I stood," he also said at a fundraiser in NYC.

Obama is an idiot.

Obama is a narcissistic buffoon.

Come on now Obama, you are nowhere near a Gandhi, especially since you perpetrate acts that Gandhi would find sickening.

I thought to myself the other day...

Between Barack Obama and Ron Paul, who really deserved the Nobel Peace Prize?

Niether, though Obama's proposed policies would do more for peace than Paul's.

how do you figure? Paul's policy towards peace is to stop harassing countries in the middle east. Bring our troops home. Start talking to nations rather than forcing ourselves upon them.

Clearly the things you cite are on the same level as the expanded drone assassinations, keeping Gitmo open and allowing guns over our borders to kill hundreds of Mexicans. Silly .... [/sarcasm]

Referencing someone in a speech =/= comparing oneself to them

Not quite sure where your going with this one?

I don't see where he compared himself to Gandhi or Mandela.

Because Paul's policies would lead to a direct destabilization of the world. Paul seems to think it's still the 17th century.

He did not. Truth does not make for a good political hack thread though.

Truth doesn't make for good misdirection and distraction of a thread either.

That's a mighty big assumption
Really? Any reasoning behind that claim? I believe the laws he adheres to came along a bit later.

So you can show where he actually compared himself to either Ghandi or Mandela? You have yet to do so. You have in fact avoided addressing the fact that he does not do so, even though it has been pointed out by more than one of us. Ironically, your post here seems to be misdirecting and distracting from the actual point, which is that Obama did not make such a comparison.
