Hi guys I'm new here and just starting to get into politics. I've watched all the debates and have listened to each Republican closely. I can decide that I support Ron Paul fully. I believe in the Constitution and think that we as Americans are slowly being stripped of our rights. I wanted to see where everyone else stands. I'm sorry if this poll has already been posted. I went back 3 pages and didn't see any poll like this. Who do you support out of the remaining GOP candidates and Obama?

Welcome to the forum.

I'd vote for Paul were he a few years younger and had a reasonable chance of winning.
I mostly like Romney, but it's hard to pin down exactly where he really stands on the issues. He's quite an accomplished politician, after all, and having multiple stands on issues seems to be the way to get elected.
Personally, I'm glad that the president doesn't have half of the power that many of the voters seem to think he does.

Of those choices, Obama. Paul would be my second choice.

I think his foreign policy is great. We need to mind our own business. Cutting Foreign aid would save the US a lot of money. I would rather have smaller government rather than the socialist state were headed towards. He would repeal Obamacare, which I am strongly against. He supports the second amendment and as a gun owner I feel is a strong factor considering Obama and Romney's voting record towards gun control. He would bring the troops home and pull our troops out of every other country. We should not be policing the world especially with our economic crisis going on now. He is the only honest politician in the race. He stands for freedom and isn't a puppet for the large corporations as is Gingrich, Romney and Obama. I don't know about you, but I enjoy freedom and it is slowly being stripped of us. As for Santorum, he is a religious fanatic that would create world war 3. Who do you support and why?

Nice simple poll. Given your major concern I guess the Ron Paul is your only choice, but to have him be successful you'd have to roll back the calendar quite a few years. Then if you were black you'd be a slave, talk about being stripped of your rights.

BTW, I was in Mississippi in '68 for about 50 weeks. The blacks were stripped of their rights at that time.

Why are you talking about issues from many years ago? It is 2012 not the 1960's and 70's. African Americans have the same opportunities as everyone else if not more. And when I say more I am talking about the demographic requirements that have to be met. If you want to talk about issues of race then what about when my dad was taking the test to become a cop in the early 90's when white males had to score a 90% or better and black males only had to score a 60%? That was fair:roll: .

I want to vote for Ron Paul, because I think this country needs to make tough choices to get back on track. All of the other candidates seem to want to put a band-aid over the bullet hole. I see a lot of can kicking going on and that is not going to solve any of our problems now or in the future. I really want our country to be better for the next gen, and I do not feel like we are doing a good job right now.

That said I don't believe Ron Paul has a chance to win the nomination.

I feel Ron Paul has a fighting chance and said after the Arizona debate that he is second in delegates, even though there is no accurate count. Also the mainstream media tries to ignore Paul. If he wins a poll they take the poll down. If he finishes second they don't mention him. Just because the media doesn't recognize him doesn't mean the people aren't.

He does have a chance, but not much of one i am afraid. He still has a tough road ahead of him. The things you mention above is exactly why I feel the way I do. I also feel he would have an absolute miserable time trying to get anything passed that he would like. If this ends up being the case he will be ineffective as a leader and we will still get nowhere. It's going to take lots of support from the people of this country and backing of his peers. I am not convinced he will get either. Hope I am wrong.

I don't think you're wrong. All his opponents will have to do is to run a scare campaign to convince the voters that terrorists will invade their living rooms if we cut back military presence like he wants to do, and that the druggies will take over the world if we end the war on drugs. That, and painting him as a "liberal" because of his stance on the authoritarian issues of abortion and gay marriage, and he'll never make it.

It makes me sad to think that this is how politics work. The guy who is the most honest and most consistent gets screwed. Everyone of the candidates have lied or appeased the people of the state they were in except Ron Paul.

Trust me, this is how politics work.

Paul is a bit nutty on some issues and has no chance of winning. While I'd vote for a dead hamster over the polished turd in the white house now, I support Romney since I believe he has the best chance of flushing the turds, tards and class warriors out of the oval office

You do have a way with words. LMAO

You know, the new guy actually posted a thread that stayed on subject for two pages and showed us something that we hear everyone saying but never see proof of. Paul doing well against Obama. It is very interesting that Paul is as popular as he is but does as poorly as he does in the primaries. Mind blowing.

Just look back at all the people who say something to the effect of, "I like Paul the best and would vote for him but he has no chance of winning so I'll support X." Seems to me like he doesn't get much support because everyone has been fooled into the concept of "throwing away your vote".

Just shows the crock of $%^& that representative democracy really is.

How would they be slaves again?

No, it just shows how shallow and uninformed the US is.

I'm not so sure. There's not much payoff in voting. The odds of a single individual vote actually making the difference between one candidate and another is virtually nil. The opportunity cost of performing the necessary research and due diligence on each candidate far exceeds the benefits received. Unless of course you benefit directly from specific legislation which you have influence in getting passed... But this is another matter entirely.

In another post, I stated I would vote for Ron Paul if he runs as an independent or Libertarian. I vote for Obama if Paul runs as a Republican.
