Unless I've misunderstood, you are one of those arguing in favor of a world government.

And if you support the idea of a world government, wouldn't citing one of the most definitive Communist slogans indicate that you want that global government to be based on Communist principles? We've seen where that leads, albeit on a smaller scale than what we're talking about now.
Did I argue in favor of a world government? I may have. I don't remember.

.

Well it predicted the satellite, mobile communcations etc... its at least something to ponder.
I will have to get back to you later. I have to run to the hospital. I am just trying to decide whether to use my teleportation machine or my aerocar to get there.

.

How can you expect to participate usefully in a discussion such as this, if you cannot remember what you've said before or even what your position is?

You claimed I am in favor of a world government. I am pretty sure I've not said that I do.

You are the one making statements about my position. Since when is it required that one have a position before engaging in a discussion on a particular topic?

.

So basically you are suggesting the UN or a simlilar organization would enforce your sanctions. Good luck on that. :crazy3:

.

No, basically or otherwise.

Don't take the 4 lane superhighway or talk on the universally available untethered voice teleportation machine while your at it.

Washington DC, and the politicians thereof, are quite sufficiently out of touch with the lives of their citizens as it is. I would not wish to be subject to the whims of legislation that originated in Bangaladesh or Zimbabwe.

I haven't heard this thread yet but I doubt someone has made this point. I think that having a government keeps things in the news because we are interested in it. The problem with having the world divided is we aren't interested in it. (Well excluding our community)

what in god's name are you trying to say?

I think that having a government, keeps things in tie news because we are interested it in it. Because are are interested in it the media controls what we think. That is why if we had a competitive government/private entity we would be better off. And no I don't belie in freewill at all.

that makes no sense whatsoever

no, but we should all have the same human rights, worker rights, and environmental laws.

good luck getting the fundi-Islamist types to legalize gay unions, women driving, mini-skirts etc

not allowing women to drive...is a violation of human rights.

yeah and so is whipping women for not wearing that idiotic full coverage crap. but how are you going to get "world government" when it would mean the end of sharia law

lol, because these women wear this stuff because their RELIGION dictates it... Their religion also dictates that they be a subclass to their mate....

well guess what, a world government would not allow different treatment of civil rights based on backward religious discrimination

and yet, Muslim women walk around Tunisia with their hair flowing lovely, their arms and legs showing, and their faces full of make-up.

this is about regional cultural tyranny......hiding behind religion.

Do you know why that is? It is because we all have so much hate for each other.... for what reason?

that again has nothing to do with this thread or my post

I see no reason why a true global republic should necessarily be impossible or oppressive.

we don't need a world-government.

all we need is good international laws & regulations, concerning human rights, protecting the environment, and labor laws.

I'd would much rather have a one world government than have the whole of human civilization regress into a global Dark Ages in the wake of WWIII.

To implement laws at the level of a city, requires a city government.

To implement laws at a national level requires a national government.

What would it take to implement laws at a global level?

WWII would be peanuts compared to the resulting conflicts if we have a firm world government

Because we stick our noses in other people's business. A world government as most imagine it will make things ultimately worse, teaching everybody how to live. The worst case scenario is if the OWG starts redistributing wealth among nations. :doh

A world government must deal only with enforcing contracts and to make sure countries don't bully each other, and otherwise leave people alone to develop freely according to their culture, abilities, landscape and natural resources.
