My cynical guess is that the answer of most people in this forum would change depending on which party holds the presidency.

Uh...not likely. I find it unlikely ANYONE would truly sacrifice someone they are close to, in order to save a politician. I admire Obama, as I think he is bright, capable, and has shown great patience in his term...but I can absolutely guarantee I would let him die to save my wife.

They mean nothing? Really? Clearly they do mean something if people can answer the question ;) Again you are the only person wrestling with this problem.

Answer the question? The question? There are two questions and you don't know which question each person answered. That's why your results are meaningless.

I don't really have any problem knowing that people understood that they would go with their loved one over the president. Given by the context of the thread and the overwhelming vote for loved ones. Again you are the ONLY person struggling here. Is there a rule that says the title of the thread MUST be the same question posed in the poll? If so then perhaps I am in the wrong to a rule that caters to those who do not read the poll before answering. In which case I could care less about the violation.

Perhaps I posted the thread title for shock value to entice people to come read the thread? Perhaps it worked. Now please stop complaining and either contribute or leave. You are just making yourself appear to be nothing but a troll who wishes to insult others.

PS:

This is not a court room where the evidence must be concrete and all testimony must be valid. It is a debate forum and a poll thread with discussion as the intent. It has sparked the discussion and it did what I wished. I am merely curious about those who voted for the president over their child. Perhaps you did and you are upset because you realised afterwards what the question actually was?

I'm really trying to be nice to you here, but I don't have a lot of patience with people who willfully persist in their errors and insult people who are trying to help.

There is no "what the question really was" because there were two separate questions with opposite meanings. In the thread title, you asked whether people would rather shoot the President or shoot their child. In the poll titl, you asked whether people would rather save the President or save their child. For everyone who voted for their child in the poll, you don't know whether they are voting to save their child or shoot their child. Your poll results are meaningless because you contradicted yourself, because you don't know how to construct a poll properly, and because you are too ****ing stupid and arrogant to listen when someone offers you constructive criticism. Congratulations, you win. Your completely unsubstantiated sense of self-worth is more resilient than my misguided dedication to intellectual honesty and meaningful discourse. Your mother must be so proud.

It's just like the old adage says: sometimes you have to lead a retard to water, but he doesn't need any help holding his head under.

I'm surprised that there aren't more Obama lovers stepping up on his behalf. Well done, lefties & liberals! Way to stay true to your loved ones! ;)
Yet another hyperpartisan post by Sunbelt. Way to stay civil! ;)

Can't this be moved to the Basement where it belongs?

And I got the warning?

1)You want to talk constructive criticism? You need to learn how to give it because you come off as a pretensious douche who is only trying to make people look stupid.

2) If you are answering the POLL correctly then you are answering the question proposed IN THE POLL. That seemed pretty obvious to me and every other person who answered it. Congrats.

This is an age old question, perhaps brought about by Plato's Republic. The all important question of family before country or country before family? Plato saw it as the family cannot be had by the rulers because the rulers could not make a decision based upon protecting their family first. He understood that the dynamic would be protect the family first. My question is...do you choose the life of a loved one? Or the life of the President of whatever nation you belong?

Considering that Obama is the greatest traitor in American history, I would be more than happy to let anyone kill him, and I would save my child.

However, if Ron Paul or some equally qualified and dedicated person was President, I would put my country first and save the President.

This is a ridiculous question, imo, in that's it's another one of those "save X or your child" kind of hypothetical.

My future child, which would be my loved one, is of far more importance.

God forbid someone has to make this decision irl.

LOL the title for this thread is ridiculous.

If you don't save your own family first, you're not perfect.

Subtract one from the save the president votes. I didn't read the name of the poll, just the name of the thread. I wouldn't think twice if it meant saving my child.
