Do you Vote Based on Personal Lives?

Personal life doesn't matter to me - UNLESS said personal life is the opposite of what they pledge to do.

Gingrich can NOT be allowed to "defend the sanctity" of marriage when he himself and destroyed not one but two marriages. He basically gets to run through women like shoes while saying that devoted same-sex couple would destroy marriage.

And the fact that he has proven ethics violations and would change his position at the drop of a dime if he thought it would make him richer.

Guarantee you that after he loses the election, if some rich gay dude (David Geffen, let's say) was willing to donate $25 million to one of Gingrich's "charities", he'd suddenly change his mind on the issue - just as he changed his mind on climate change, insurance mandates, and every other issue when it suited his pocketbook.

I'm with ya FilmFestGuy...

Those are the types of dishonest behaviors he believes that the public should ignore, play like they didn't happen because he squared all of those "mistakes, ethics issues, which he was fined heavily by his peers, and bad judgments about his marriage" up with his God.

No biggie, right? Go to confession, it's all gone. Actually, he didn't go to confession...he got caught and called out on for his inappropriate behaviors.

Newt's reasoning...is what's called "jailhouse mentality".

I vote for the candidate that I feel is the most honest, least corrupt, and shares my views (in that order of importance). If I feel a candidate is corrupt or uses their position for personal gains over doing what is right for the country then I do not care if they share my views exactly I will not vote for them. I would rather have a straight laced honest leader of the opposite spectrum then to continue to vote in corrupt officials. If no candidate matches my requirement I will not vote.

Hmmmm,

Are you denying you posted the above?

A person who is liberal turns you off...that factor alone makes them "undesirable" or a "turn off" in your eyes. That is an automatic indictment of a person. There's nothing else about that person that has any redeeming value.

And I suspect that Liberal and Liar are one in the same to you...if the truth were known....Dude.

This country is actually in a state of cold war between the ideologies of liberalism and conservatism. People are starting to act like they did during the civil war. Meanwhile those who are dumping propaganda and brainwashing people...use those ideologies to distract and divide people from who and what our real problem are...which are nothing less than our self-will-run-riot political and government systems.

You would be wise to understand one thing about me...I say what I mean.

Your tortured twisting of my meaning only serves to make discussion impossible, since you perceive meanings that don't exist.

We are talking about candidates.

If a candidate is a liberal, I have no interest in considering voting for them. That doesn't mean I have contempt for them. It doesn't mean I think they have no redeeming value. It simply means I will never vote for them. The same holds true if I perceive the candidate to be a liar.

In respect to your suspicion that a liberal and a liar are one in the same to me...that's not true, though I will admit that I see more liberals lying than I do conservatives.

In respect to your final rant...I think you are suffering from hyperbole on your brain...similar to your misunderstanding of my words. I guess that's just the cross you have to bear. You have my sympathies.

Alrighty then...

I appreciate your sympathies...really. I'm sure I'l wear my cross with as much diligence as possible.

And no surprise that you see the Liberal as the more frequently liars.

I have and will continue to vote for who I think will get the job done...whether they be conservative or liberal. But even that is becoming more and more difficult because...they are two sides of the same self-interested coin. The truth ain't in either of them. Our politics and government's corruption runs deep with all parties and "CLAIMED" philosophies.

My support for a candidate is based on their track record for promoting and supporting a small constitutional government with a strict balanced budget policy and hardline anti-United Nations, socialism and global warming policies, believes the US should stop nation building and policing the world, have ZERO tolerance for illegal immigration and amnesty of any form, with a Donald Trump style stance on capitalism, world trade and US/China relations.

Since these particular qualifications are rare among political candidates, I must determine which one makes the most convincing sales pitch of how he has seen the error of his ways and promises that I can trust the new man he has become___As we all know politicians have been known to promise anything for a vote while selling their soul to satan for insurance__Any suggestions on which republican hopeful might have earned my trust???___Anybody???

Of course there are many who say they would vote for a ham sandwich if that's what it takes to get obama out of office__The lessor of two evils is getting old and has very likely contributed immensely to this mess we're in___We need a hero__a real live hero.

so you would vote for a homosexual?

Say Romney won the nomination. Would you, in all honesty, not vote for him based on the fact that he may be a different religion than you? Would you not vote for Gingrich due to his wife's Tiffany's tab? Or do you vote based on what they are elected to do: Preserve America and continue on its amazing legacy?

I vote based on whether I view the candidate as the best for our country and one that also represents my ideals and I know could represent my properly. Not based off anything stupid like thier ex wife's rant or their political party.

Of course we vote based on their personal lives. I don't beleive those who deny it. I doubt that many here would vote for a serial killer, or a member of that wacky cult that Tom Cruise believes in

However, many of us don't believe that (some) immoral behaviors (ex lies, extramarital sex, etc) are deal-breakers.

I normally vote on the values and choices made by said candidates.

That would be because you judge what is "truth" through a political lens.

Not at all. Truth is not dependent upon a "political lens". Truth is absolute.

so you would vote for a homosexual?
If he or she met my criteria where other candidates failed, then definitely yes__Believe it or not, homosexuality is not that important to me.

Unlike liberals, I don't really consider it worthy of serious debate and have even criticized others for blowing this issue way out of proportion.

yada-yada-yada!__it's your signature that caught my attention, DashAm.

If Obama is the 4th best president America has had
Whatever, people were so fascinated with electing a black POTUS, they were saying he was the best even before his inauguration.

then I am the 4th of God's gifts to women.
What I want to know is,:nails what have us poor deprived girls who never met you been missing out on? :angel?:

That's not what the signature is about. It's about how he, himself, considered himself to be the 4th best president. On a note of what you've been missing, I can assure you that you've never met anyone quite like me.

Absolutely. If a candidate was a drug addict, I wouldn't vote for them. If they had a medical problem that would affect their ability to do the job successfully, I wouldn't vote for them. I wouldn't necessarily not vote for someone because they had a different religion than me, but if I thought they would allow it to unduly affect their decisions I might not vote for them.

___is it just me :sun or is it getting hot in here?! :flame:

If someone has a horrible moral personal life like a history of theft, abuse, or other things I wouldn't trust that person to lead the nation. Sure, I would like to have a president that shares my religious views, but that isn't necessary for my vote. I wouldn't withhold my vote for Romney because he's a Mormon.

No

I tend to vote based on many aspects of a candidate...including integrity, capabilty, record, philosophy, temperment, and perfomance. In other words, the reasons I would NOT vote for someone are far less important than the reasons I would.
