you insisted that "it worked out fine last time"
and it is foolish to assert that working out fine is losing the election
    but prove me wrong
explain the result which proves that it worked out fine for him last time

Ron Paul's voting record on racial and HIV matters does not support the statements being attributed to him for the 1980s & 90s newsletter. My guess is Paul had little input on what was in the newsletter. I wouldn't not vote for him based on what was in the newsletter. I'm not voting for him because of other issues with his platform.

There's nothing to prove ... you claim a correlation between how he handled that question in 2008 and him losing the primary - I don't see that correlation, nor have you established it in anything but your opinion. Me trying to prove your opinion wrong is as futile as you making the correlation. My claim is his explanation in 2008 was adequate... if you disagree, tell me what was inadequate about it.
I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on whats being proposed here, hed agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute. - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

you insist that he handled the controversial material in his publication in a fine manner last election
no reason to expect that current weak response by Dr Paul to the articles, published at his direction, to yield a better result this election

This may very well be true, but... I'm still dissatisfied with *why* he allowed his name to be put on something he had little to no control or concern over. At the very least, that's extremely poor judgment.

    No vote
Why must politicians be such scum ?
Its a reflection on the American people, but I happen to think that most of us are better than that.

Re: Do you care about Ron Paul's statements?

We finally have the first challenge of RP. As Red pointed out, I hold Paul fully responsible for the comments. Luckily, his voting record goes against these inflammatory remarks, otherwise I would sincerely be questioning his beliefs. I do not believe Paul wrote these, but believe it was poor management on his part to allow them to be published under his name.

I understand that when you're a congressman trying to push through as much change as Dr. Paul, you need to delegate such decisions. But his choice in characters to who he delegated these powers is a little disturbing. It was 20 years ago, however, and I still see Dr. Paul as our best option today. If he does overcome this hurdle, I think he can break through his current ceiling as he did his last ceiling and have a potential shot at winning. But if he can't, then I'm not sure who to vote for.

I am not a Ron Paul follower or supporter but I don't think this rises to a level where if somebody is a supporter they should note vote for him. Don't let the enemies of your candidate define your candidate for you.

The biggest problem Republicans have is the candidates. They don't add votes beyond "generic Republican." They each lose votes.

Ron Paul as the Republican candidate would be a true slaughter of Republicans.

As Maddow pointed out, his explanation may be the worst problem he has of it.

In Paul's statement, Ron Paul never read his own newsletter - published for years - and "doesn't remember anyone" associated with it. Thus, if you believe Ron Paul, he is totally incompetent as a manager of his political team incapable of having ANY any control of his own public political affairs - and he now has dementia unable to remember a single name of his campaign team that created his political materials for year after year.

Completely management incompetency and memory lose dementia is his best defense? I think the media is going to continue to "pester" him (his word choice) about this and many other things of his past political actions and statements.
