He got one yr less than what the prosecution(15-20) asked for. Some think it's not fair that he gets more time in jail than criminals who are a physical danger to society. What do you think?

The Rod Blagojevich who once challenged a prosecutor to face him like a man, the glad-handing politician who took to celebrity TV shows to profess his innocence, was nowhere to be found Wednesday as he was sentenced to 14 years in prison for corruption.
Frowning and pulling nervously at his tie, the disgraced former governor seemed like another person as he stepped up to address the sentencing judge. His bluster, once as conspicuous as his famously lavish head of dark hair, wiped out since his June convictions on charges that included attempting to sell President Barack Obama's U.S. Senate seat.
In a low voice, the two-term Democrat apologized again and again, telling Judge James Zagel he had made "terrible mistakes."

If you do the crime, you better be ready to do the time.

he did it to himself
abused his office
made a spectacle of the trial
disrespected the court
showed no contrition
appropriate sentence

He most certainly deserved what he got...hes a GOVERNOR, in charge of an entire state...there is no doubt the dirty deals he was involved and the dept of his abuse of power and position.

He would have gotten a lighter sentence for molesting a child.

Given the criminal history of Illinois governors, that may have been a factor in this sentence.

Ironically, when cops break the law, they are given a break for their service.

that appears to speak more to the too light punishment assigned to child molesters

This is crap. I was looking forward to him on Fox.

I have zero sympathy for corrupt public officials. I can't vote in this poll because I think the sentence was too lenient. Blago deserved the max.

I've got no compassion for Blago whatsoever, and the sentence is more than fair. While he might not have been a danger to others, physically, he was a danger to Democracy, and so deserves the harsh sentence he got.

He just kept digging his hole deeper. If he would have been humble and contrite he would have probably gotten a lot less. He just didn't get it just like a lot of politicians. He got what he deserved.

He didn't do it all by himself. He had help and it's just a shame that he's taking the fall for the rest of them.

This clown didn't dream all this up on his own.

I doubt it, but yeah I couldn't stand his face being on TV acting like he was all innocent and ****, laughing with the girls on the view and all that crap.

He certainly wasn't alone. The entire history of the uttely corrupt democrat party in IL gave him every indication the rules didn't apply to him.

Can anyone tell me why Jesse Jackson Jr. isn't being fitted for an orange jumpsuit? I hope Blago can spill the beans on BO and Rahm before he is "off'ed" in prison.

based on what other criminals get it was too severe but I cannot get too upset with Blowjobabitch doing 14 years.

I think his sentence was enhanced due to the judge believing he lied his ass off on the witness stand

Maybe a little harsh but he did his level best to piss off the judge and all others involved so he kind of dug his own grave. That being said I think corruption from politicians should be punished more harshly than civilian equivalents because they are in a position of public trust and their actions have a very long chain of consequences for all of us. The punishment leniency scale should reflect something like this: petty crimes and misdemeanors < Minor felonies < white collar crimes < Political crimes < Violent felonies.

There's no way he could have peddled all those plans by himself.

yea, and rod is such a stand up guy he would not have rolled over on his cohort if he thought it would have helped him
stupid, stupid conspiracy theory

Our entire criminal justice system is barbaric. We shouldn't be locking people in cages in the first place, unless their physical presence in society actually poses a danger to other people. That does not seem to be the case for Rod Blagojevich.
