    major breach of ethics?
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

If there was an open primary in Oregon, I might vote for him or one of the other crazies, but I would never vote for him in the general election.

    Re: President Newt Gingrich

Romney is starting to appear desperate, and there are 20 some days left until voting begins. I think it's likely Gingrich can win the nominee. He just has to hold onto his lead and not screw up. Romney is in the position of screwing himself out of desperation though. I really have no moral issue with watching Romney struggle and fumble so much, he seemed smug in the beginning and acted like he wasn't going to have a fight on his hands. The guy flip flopped so many times, he owes it to the voters to hold himself accountable for his own record and stop talking in circles and giving himself room to back pedal. The guy gets on my ever last nerves.

    Re: President Newt Gingrich

Until recently, because for many years I had assumed that what I'd heard about his serving divorce papers on his spouse in the hospital where she was treated for breast cancer was true, Newt was on my can't-vote-for list. (Romney remains.) He is now on my hold-my-nose list if necessary.

I didn't vote for Obama in 2008 because his views on every major issue are diametrically opposed to mine. Now, however, I have seen for myself his weakness. His ineptness. I want him gone. I am not prepared to vote ABO, and I am, in fact, prepared to not vote at all for the first time in my life.

But yes, with a clothespin on my nose, I might, maybe, be able to vote for Gingrich if it means driving an incompetent failure of a President out of office.

There are certain things which would lead me to not support a candidate no matter what their position on issues. Not many things, but a couple. Found guilty of major ethics violations is the top item on the list.
