Is a North Korean living in a concentration camp a slave? He has the choice to comply with his captors or have his entire family executed. Just because he doesn't like his choices doesn't mean he's a slave, right? He just needs to stop his bitching and do something to change his situation.

    I can't. This is important.

There is no enslavement in private industry in the US or any other industrialized nation.
This is incredibly naive. Human trafficking is a serious problem in the US and many other industrialized nations.

Find one person that thinks NK is a free society. They have no bearing on the discussion.

P.s...being held at gun point is not freedom by any stretch of the imagination.

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

LOL - if he's never been in one how does he know what could be worse?

    Free food
    free shelter
    free healthcare

    Yeah - prison blows . . . can I move in?

Which is in the preamble the "general welfare" comes just before the "blessings of liberty".

The USSR was not free in any way shape or form. How much financial security did Russians have then?

    Re: Which is more important?

What we have in this thread is a failure to communicate. The poll gives a vague premise that is almost nonsensical. As the thread goes on, there seems to be a complete disconnect between wild-eyed idealism... "Freeeedoom"... from people who have never in their lives lived in a totalitarian society, but are acting as if they are living in one now and want to spark a rebellion against... well, that part is unclear. People who have financial security, I suppose, but the entire discussion is so disjointed as to be nonsensical.

Americans have freedom. However, if they don't use that freedom to attend to their own needs by securing the finances necessary to survive, freedom in itself becomes less important than survival. As I've previously said, without financial security... i.e. the means to support oneself... the only freedom left is starvation, homelessness, and welfare. Quite frankly some posts in this thread are honestly undecipherable.

    yes.

    duh.

"Freedom" =/= "you have the ability to do anything you want to"
