Would not the answer depend on if you want the candidate who is most likely to win the election or if you want the candidate who meets your personal standard of being purer ideologically than the driven snow?

cute. Did I miss the part of your post where you provided the verifiable evidence that he is a radical leftist? I have seen previous little in this three years in office which indicates that in any way, shape or form. Just the opposite in fact.

    Re: Your 2012 Republican Nominee?

As was touched on earlier, I can understand that some individuals may feel some of the Republican candidates are better choices than Obama while others are not. I would disagree strenuously, but I can see how some people would might think that. I don't see how any Republican could think that, however.

I actually voted for Huntsman. I just want someone sane.

He may be a closet leftist, but I think Obama has governed as a moderate on most issues, which is why the radical left hates him at the moment. I just think he has accomplished nothing and seems feckless and incompetent.

I don't think he has governed as a moderate. I just think every time he fails to govern, the result is a moderate one. Before the US elected Brown and reigned him in, Obama gave us Obamacare. You don't get much more radically leftist than that. Obama is very hands off because he doesn't want a perceived failure to ruin his re-election chances. He would rather others fail and he be able to blame them than that he risks doing something wrong.
Get informed: UNICEF foreign adoption policy is killing orphans and the US gives $132 million to UNICEF every year. Stop the madness.

BO has governed as a leftwing moonbat......one would have to be patholgically blind to miss what he has done and wants to do to this Country. Masssive debts, massive deficits, massive growth in government, massive fraud and crony capitalism, massive growth in entitlements, massive growth in class warfare, massive growth in regulations......he is about as moderate as Karl Marx.
I love the smell of burning moonbat in the morning.

If the question is who would I vote for today, Newt, today, appears to have the best chance to win the general. Plus I would love to see him debate BO, especially if Newt's in a particularly cranky-ass mood. (Which is what I had hoped for from McCain, but didn't get.)

    Re: Your 2012 Republican Nominee?

As a Democrat I feel like it would be wrong for me to vote on this poll as I won't be able to vote on primaries. That said, Huntsman has a proven record in many areas although he isn't the most EXXXTREEEEEMMME candidate like so many crave on the right these days. I also like many of Ron Paul's ideas. Specifically his ideas about defense and government transparency (the fed). He is indeed the real source of the Tea Party movement before the entire movement got bastardized by Fox News, Dick Armey, and whatever other Republican decided they needed a vehicle to help drive straight into Obama and for that I respect him. Paul has always been ahead of his time. He can disagree with a liberal like say, Jon Stewart or Rachel Maddow and not insult them or their intelligence instead he tries his hardest to plea his case and through his sometimes senile/dementia rants he has quite a few peaks of brilliant light.
"We’re going to close the unproductive tax loopholes that allow some of the truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share. In theory, some of those loopholes were understandable, but in practice they sometimes made it possible for millionaires to pay nothing, while a bus driver was paying ten percent of his salary, and that’s crazy." -Reagan
