Your all retards would be rude. Flat out. If you said that those kids are retarded though, then that would not be rude as long as you meant it to be slow. It goes to intent.

What is PC is calling a deaf person deaf and having them get mad about it. THAT is the BS that Political Correctness spawns.

I was walking with my brother and said something about those deaf kids using sign language so fast and he got mad at me for not being PC. I said that I just mean that they can't hear... they are deaf. Hellen Keller was deaf. Just a fact. He said that I might offend them if they knew and I said that it is not my job to go around worrying about if something I say might offend a person or not.

I know a black guy that wants to be called African American and another that if you call him African American gets angry and says he was born in Arkansas.

From your example Redress, it seems to me you were speaking as someone informed, and because of that, what you said, also happened to be politically correct.

    Who cares?
During the Iranian hostage crisis in which dozens of our diplomats were being held, I was Finance Director for a SoCal water district. I was hiring a new accounts receivable clerk, and a Middle-Eastern young man applied. I liked his credentials and the way he handled himself in the interview. He had a very distinct accent, and I could see from his resume dates that he'd only been in the US a few years, so I asked how he liked it here and where he was from. He said he liked it very much, and he was from Persia... but I could see the instant flash of fear in his eyes. I just said, "Welcome to America, you've got the job." I thought he'd faint, lol.

After he'd worked for me for many months and was comfortable, he said in the break room... in a whisper... "I'm really from Iran, which used to be Persia." I just smiled and said, "I know."

Sometimes it's frightening to come to a new country that has tense relations with the country from which one just escaped.

Note for those who do not understand: the use of the word bitch in this case was representative to make a point, I was not calling nor do I think Evanescence is a bitch. I would have used a different word that would have been more effective except the word filter would have killed the effect.
uh huh. Calling someone a bitch isn't really politically incorrect. Neither is the other curse word you wanted to use.

I already stated that I would not call a child retarded. But nice hyperbole.

I don't know how you came to that conclusion, but I bet it has something to do with retardation.

Then you agree that your original premise on political correctness in this thread, and in every other thread has been wrong.
Uh, no, but what do you think my premise is if you came to this nonsensical conclusion?

Yeah, but in your post, you place "mentally disabled" in the "silly nonsense" category of PC words indicating that "retarded" is the word that you prefer and apparently think is perfectly fine regardless of whether or not you use it. Spud's point seems to be that it's not all "silly nonsense" because if using "mentally disabled" instead "retard" was just "silly nonsense" then it would make perfect sense to walk up to a bunch of Autistic kids and call them retards.
