Re: Would you rather have a nice house or nice cars(s)

I am always trying to impress someone, mainly me, then my wife , then my son-in-law and daughter..
    This I think is normal.
Impressing is done much easier with an automobile....but if you are not taken in with my 15 year old Saab 900, then its your loss.
The house......not proud of this, its a hundred years old to several years old (build and upgrades), but the design dates back to the 18th century...about as old as our very dated Constitution...
    Affluent neighborhood ?
Not in conservative, but poor southern PA.
Here the people work, at least most do...
A decent house is far more important than a transitory motor vehicle...
    Obnoxious neighbors ?
I have to watch myself here, I could be the one (being a slop, a collector, and bi-polar at the same time)..
IMO, the wealthy can be the most disagreeable/unlikeable of all...I would not want to be Ebenezer Scrooges neighbor.

I really could go either way... either a respectable car and a great house. Or a tiny dwelling somewhere decent and a great vehicle depending on how my lifestyle goes.

Our kids love our sports car - it looks nice, goes fast, it's loud. It's not brand-new, either - it was actually more affordable than our Mazda and is more fuel efficient than the SUV I use to rely on. I get a thrill out of them enjoying it so much.

    Sad...
Our society will be so much better when the wealthy/pseudo wealthy begin to care.

LOL - he doesn't care what YOU think and I think that's his right. . . and that in a casual discussion about living in an affluent neighborhood vs being able to afford a vehicle.

He basically thinks we are poor b/c we ride around in a ten yro vehicle. Teens

I asked him if poor people live in a 3500 SQFT house in a nice neighborhood. Hence my poll question....
Nice house. If the car works and is safe, the age isn't a big deal. I use public transport most of the time anyway.

Personally, I'd rather have a nice 3 bedroom, multi-level condo in a nice community over the vehicles every day.

You think people ought to be shallow?
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.
