many folks at OWS have already claimed that they do NOT need goals, an agenda, nor demands.

those things are just used to "box people in".

;)

Without demands, goals, or an agenda....... they feel like nobody can criticize their movement or prove their movement is a farce!!!

You seem to have the best response to my post and I can see that point of view. The first amendment however, doesn't say anything about where protesters need to spend the night. Get that amendment amended and I will fall into your camp (d'oh! bad pun).

Until then, the people's right to assemble trumps curfew and camping laws. Why do you think that it took 2 months for Mayors to evict protesters? It's because their lawyers told them: don't tread on them.

The Mayor and police action in Los Angeles are to be commended and should be a model for the country:

"I am very glad there's been virtually no violence here," said Villaraigosa in a brief interview after a speech at the Los Angeles Business Council's annual summit. "There's probably been the least amount in the country, even though it was the second largest (Occupy) site."

With the shut down of the Occupy Wall Street, Occupy L.A. is now the largest remaining encampment in the country, according to city officials. While the mayor has previously stated that the Occupy L.A. protesters can't stay indefinitely at City Hall, he said there was no timeline for the group to leave.

"There's no deadline," said Villaraigosa.

"There's a thing called the First Amendment, and they have a right to protest," he added.

When their encampment turns into a haven for criminal activity..... He'll be ready to invoke a timeline at that time.

How does a government stop someone from being greedy?

With regulations like we used to have that put a firewall between investment banks and commercial banks.

It seems LA has the ability to distinguish between the violent trouble makers and the protesters at large.

The same way that traffic regulations reduce traffic fatalities.

Regulations change how people think?

I don't give a **** what people think, I do happen to care about people that actually screw me however. Do you disagree with regulations against rape?

By putting everyone on a level playing ground, so that we are all equal.

Oh, so you want everybody to be equal? Haven't you read Kurt Vonnegut's book about extreme equality?
People don't understand that differences and discrimination are two complete different things. Difference is born naturally, or developed later in life. Discrimination is unfair treatment because of difference. Discrimination is bad, difference is good and should be recognized. You're wanting difference to be destroyed.
Jesus, this thing is in 7th grade social studies textbooks.

I don't think any Western society has every worked for equality but what they have worked for is Equality of Opportunity and you miss out the inequality which comes from birth. This is about a lot more than obvious discrimination. It is about creating a situation where all people get an equal start.

A true equal start which all those idealists dream about would have the competitors born to the same wealth class, with the same looks, with the same health, etc...

Their are regulations for properly raping someone?

You won't accomplish this until you can control each person from conception on. Not even all wombs are created equal.

it would be almost physically impossible for all people to get an equal start. the only way to do so would be to clone each and every person from the same donor and then "grow" the fetuses in identical artificial wombs.

I know it chaps the asses of many of the liberal crowd...but the plain and simple truth is that some people are born to be smarter than others. all the opportunity in the world is not going to make a guy with an 82 IQ equal to a guy with a 150 IQ.

This is real life you goofy ****, this isn't Forrest Gump. your kid is stupid and he can't be a shrimp boat captain.

oh, they have the opportunity. they may not have the ability to take advantage of said opportunity but that isn't my fault. Life isn't fair. sorry, but it just isn't. some people are going to live better than others, that's the way it is, has always been and probably always will be.

Such a Utopia does not, and cannot exist on a planet full of humans. That being fact, we only need to stop being selfish, greedy and covetous of others!
I would agree! I'd also like to add that we all need to quit lying, cheating, and stealing. That is what's causing our downfall. The kids that sought out "cheats' for video games are now working in the financial districts all over the country.

WHOOAAAAHHH DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDDDEE!!!

Peace in the Middle East Maaaaaan!

Give peace a chance!!!!!

Economic Justice Maaaan!!!!!

Equal Rights Duuuude!!!!!

Whoaaaaaahahh!!!
Get a new keyboard. Many of your keys are sticking.

Neither, I really do not know FOR SURE what the "Occupy" is all about .
I do know that there is far too much unequality in our nation.
"The rich becoming ever richer" is not a good thing, nor is "the poor becoming poorer" a good thing.
IF these are true, that is.
I trust not our sensationalistic for profit only media.
An indie man, who knows little....aka a mushroom...

I believe I am reading the truth here...
I do not think man has basically changed over the years...
Perhaps the shackles should not have been removed so fast.
Shackles , another word for controls and regulations...
We need these, but lets be intelligent about it and keep things in balance.

How do regulations stop someone from being greedy? Regulations change how people think?
They do not and cannot....
I do not think that man is inheritedly "evil"...some are, maybe...
But man is subject to the 7 sins....greed for one...
As written 456 times....we need a better people....and I think we are recieving better people....but this takes time to be effective.

Too many of us have a sixth grade education.....
Equality cannot be, not yet, but I think we are growing ever closer to it.
Differences too, will go, but in how many millennia ???

How has society lead us astray that we are all equals?

I don't believe that.........
These days people like to use their minority race or female gender as a crutch when it benefits them most.... I despise these people, they are moreso the problem than those who are actually sexist or racist.

But... that has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the question you have been asked and still have not answered outside of ignorant catch phrases and slogans.

For pete's sake, even your own President has admitted that the American dream has become out of reach for thousands of Americans. Get a grip.

I'm just glad that can't bring their tents the that park in NYC anymore. People need to go home and do something productive.
