No! We need 24/7 coverage until the Movement succeeds!
Anti-OWS, but I like arguing about it.
Pro-OWS, but I'm getting tired of arguing about it.
Anti-OWS, sick of hearing about it.
Not taking sides, just plain sick of it all.
"No religion is true, but some religion, any religion, is politically necessary. Law and morality are insufficient for the large majority of men. Obedience to the law and to the morals are insufficient for making men happy. […]Law and morality are therefore in need of being supplemented by divine rewards and punishments."
-JryanI'm coming to see that no matter what law we regulate, be it the stand your ground act, there is never an objective morally right answer to any morale question; in fact, since there are multiple objectively right answers to every moral question that leaves us with a lot of grey area and a lot of black area (not in the racial since).
P J O'Rourke had a good take on this:
O'Rourke: If the 1% had less, would the 99% be better off? | Marketplace from American Public MediaYes, it's upsetting that some people have so much while other people have so little. It isn't fair. But I accept this unfairness. Indeed, I treasure it. That's because I have a 13-year-old daughter And that's all I hear, "That's not fair," she says. "That's not fair! That's not fair!" And one day I snapped, and I said, "Honey, you're cute, that's not fair. Your family is pretty well off, that's not fair. You were born in America, that's not fair. Darling, you had better get down on your knees and pray that things don't start getting fair for you."
I'm really beginning to wonder if people aren't protesting just to protest. Today, I understand that they tried to shut down the NYSE. Exactly what would that do other than seriously throw a wrench into any economic growth? Unfortunately, most of the money that is made in this country these days is made by moving other money around. That's pretty much what got us here, but bankrupting everyone isn't going to fix that. I assume they have some kind of bank account -- do they know how the bank makes its money? It ain't off of fees.
There are serious sins in the financial sector. I'm certainly not in favor of just turning the other way, or actually making them easier to commit. I just don't know what anyone's trying to accomplish anymore. OWS is not going to bring back economic growth by shutting things down. Demonizing them is also not solving anything. I'm about this close to saying "**** all of you, I'm moving to Nunavut."
