It doesn't change my opinion at all. I still think he's a totally unqualified empty suit with a glib tongue and a gift for making whacky, completely unworkable, and profoundly stupid ideas sound paletable to a gullible segment of the populace.

If he shares my views, I'll vote for him. Regarding the claims, they aren't proven and may very well be politically-motivated. If guilty, then no vote.

should have learned from clinton

tell us straight. don't lie

that this self proclaimed 'problem solver' can't figure out how to extinguish this issue establishes that he is an even weaker candidate than might have earlier been thought
Yeah, if only he'd been different about it, you'd be voting for him.

Awesome Di! You sure boiled it down to a very succinct and entertaining sentence. :) No wonder you are a successful writer.

I can agree somewhat, seeing as Obama is an example.

It doesn't change my opinion of him a lot because of the accusations.

What does make me like him even less is the fact that in two days, he gave about sixteen different answers to the questions.

He didn't do it. Then he admits to remembering one settlement, but can't remember if he signed it at the time. The the charges are salacious. Then...blah blah blah.

His campaign is so disorganized. Anyone knows that when controversy strikes, you have to have a solid response (preferably a truthful one) and put the issue to rest.

By being inconsistent, he made the issue even bigger. It just shows how utterly unprepared for this he truly is.

This crap belongs in the sewer, all sewers.
Including our pathetic national news outlets (Fox, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, and the ilk,)

Before this info came out, I though Cain was a few tacos short of a combination plate. Now, I still think the same.

why does it belong there when we are discussing the potential character flaw of a prospective presidential candidate?

I can agree somewhat, seeing as Obama is an example.

I said pretty much the same thing about Obama. He was... and still is IMHO... unqualified to be president. He was... and still is IMHO... a professional campaigner. Nothing more.

Since he isnt a serious candidate for president it has no impact on my views of his campaign.

First, the context: Everything I've heard about this has been through the filter of Fox News Radio and the various conservative talk shows on my local conservative talk radio station.

Given that, I can't be sure that my information on and understanding of this situation is accurate.

However, going only off that info, I would say that it appears to me as purely an attack against Cain, and that there is little or no substance to the accusations.

Subject to change if I acquire info that contradicts that conclusion.

Edit: I should add that I answered the poll question with "It changes my opinion a little." My reason for this is that if this story is as it appears - an attack on Cain - then it causes me to dislike his attackers for their underhanded tactics, and by extension, improves my opinion of him.

By coming forth, even anonymously, aren't these women putting their settlements in danger?

Not that I am enamored with Cain, but... there is a part of me that says if you're going to say something, have the backbone to say it publicly, or shut up. If it is the settlement money that is keeping them anonymous, then pick one.

If there was a settlement many people were involved, at least a dozen; e.g. lawyers, secretaries, witnesses, etc. So, how do you know who is coming forward?

I ‘voted’ “It doesn't change my opinion at all.” Cain, like a few earlier canidates, has been very entertaining. But, the Republicans are going to have to find a rational reasonable conservative candidate soon.

I think some of you would be surprised by how much actual sexual harassment there is in the workforce, and has been for decades. Most men seem to think it's hogwash, a vehicle for vindictive females to spite co-workers more successful than they. It's not, nor is it widely reported. Most harassers are males in positions of power in the company. Most victims are females who are much lower on the corporate food chain. If harassment is reported, females are usually the ones sent packing... and they don't get a cushy severence package, so these women must have had either a pair of brass-plated ones or were high enough in their careers to make serious waves.

I doubt any attractive woman who has worked for 10 or 20 years can truthfully say that she has never been the victim of sexual harassment. God knows, I was. It was blatant and non-relenting. I was just a working single mother with two kids to feed and a mortgage I couldn't quite make. He was a partner in the firm. I was absolutely stuck until I was able to quietly find another job, and quit that one. If a sexual harassment claim... or two... was taken seriously enough for a settlement and confidentiality agreement to be reached, I don't doubt that it too was blatant and non-relenting.

That said, it has nothing to do with Cain's presidential qualifications. He still doesn't have any. :)

It doesn't effect my opinion about him at all. These claims are suspicious seeing how that they are just now coming out while the man is running for president.

You should have picked public option. .

The lawsuit and settlement in question happened long before he was running for President. It's just that back then, nobody cared who Herman Cain was. Just about anybody who did hear about it back then probably thought "Who's Herman Cain, and why do I care?"

I did go with "changes my opinion a little bit." He's gone from "Seemingly decent fellow that I don't agree with" to "Possible scumbag I don't agree with"

It been reported that Herman Cain's top aide accused Texas Gov. Rick Perry's campaign of being behind the recent stories about sexual harassment allegations against Cain. Too much fun. I'm suposed that it was all made up by Perry's campaign? I thought it was the dems.

Romney? Why would Romney get mixed up in this, makes no sense on the surface. What plot. Someone has to have a plan to have a plot. I trust that Romney will have enough sense to simply state that he knows nothing of the harassment thing, and I trust that it will be the truth. But, how could this be more fun?

I can't change the system. And I sure as hell don't want to give a vote to someone who I know already supports 0% of what I know and believe will help this country and I won't just NOT vote which is the same as voting for Obama and the Democrats.

It's just the lesser of two evils....

If you keep paying someone to mow your lawn and that person keeps doing a lousier job every time that person mows your yard. Then guess what. That person is going to keep doing a lousier job and before you know it you will be paying them for doing nothing.

But, isn't voting for the "lesser of two evils" also voting for the candidate who shares *more* of your views, if not most?

Disclaimer: I do not share the "lesser of two evils" point-of-view, btw, just asking the question in an intellectual sense.

If you wanted your roof fixed and money was no object would you hire the lousier roofing contractor out of the two lousy roofing contractors?
