Should animals be granted personhood?

Maybe this was covered in the numerous pages I didn't read......

While PETA folks want animals to be granted personhood, I am willing to bet 99% of those people are more than happy classifying an unborn child as nothing more than collection of cells.

They probably think the same of unborn animals. Not really the contradiction you seem to think it is.
