With all Hollywood types, I find it very east to separate their work on screen with their real life persona. Gibson is no different. Perhaps if I were young and impressionable and looked to Hollywood for role models as some young people do, that would be different.

Gibson is a talented filmmaker and I look forward to his work.

I think of Clint Eastwood- who has the reputation of a conservative libertarian and I loathe that particular political philosophy. However, his films are more often than not well worth the price of admission and he is highly talented and skilled. Even when his material is blatantly political - like the Dirty Harry movies - I am able to suspend disbelief and just go along for the entertainment value and enjoy the films for what they are.

Mel Gibson does not need my forgiveness.

I could care less about ol Mel

Apocalypto was pretty good imo.

Still find the recorded dscussions dubious, though. Perhaps I'll find/post that vid explaining why something seems fishy about it, later.

I'm bucking the trend here, but no. Gibson is a miserable POS on too damned many levels. Fortunately for him, he neither needs my forgiveness nor cares about it. :)

Not agreeing with someone's political philosophy is a little bit different than Mel Gibson's arrogant treatment of a police officer, his vile racist comments about Jews, and his filthy toilet mouth directed at the mother of his child. I agree with you, though. He doesn't need anyone's forgiveness. He just wants a job. (Dirty Harry was blatantly political?)

Alec Baldwin is a dickhead. Most of hollywood screw each other like Minks on viagra and benzedrine. Lindsay Lohan, Drew Barrymore, Ally Sheedy and a few others like her have done more drugs than the Grateful Dead's Europe 72 tour-and that included the band, the roadies and a million or so deadheads.

they are friggin entertainers. I saw the Grateful dead even if Bob Weir supported Clinton or Mondale. I watched plenty of Martin Sheen's movies because he is good at what he does even if he's a complete assclown politically and gets arrested for his LOOK AT ME protests.

and while Mel might be a Jew Bashing bastard he isn't out supporting black september, Hamas, or some of the other scumbags that seem to be popular with some of our liberal elites

Personally I never understood the obsession that people have when it comes to hollywood stars. Why are people so interested in what they do, say, wear, eat, etc etc? I don't even bother to memorize a hollywood persons name unless I've seen them in 3-4 GOOD movies/shows. Beyond that I could care less about thier lives.

You're claiming Mel Gibson has don something to each member of DP, personally, for each of us to then need to forgive him. I would like to know why you think this.

This. He hasn't done anything to me personally, so why would he need or want my forgiveness?

as a englishmen I will never forgive Mel Gibson, the guy bloody hates us lol! I was half expecting the red coats to be the ones putting Christ on the Cross in the Passion! " King of the Jews is it, only one king and his name his George"

Maybe if I cared about something as irrelevant as that. Who cares?

I can. I like a lot of his movies, but my only issue is that he doesn't seem to want people to forgive him. He seems to embrace this attitude towards him like he is some sort of martyr. That makes it harder.

Way back in the day, actors were considered the dredges of society. Oh. Wait.

Forgive him for being in Hamlet? Sure.

Personally, I would rather have 10 mel gibsons than all those damn Baldwin Bros. Is there no end to them or do they scurry out of the woodwork every few years like a pestilence of biblical proportions?

Putting CRIMES and MISDEMEANORS in PERSPECTIVE:

He got drunk and said stupid things. And he left screaming messages on his GFs voice mail...

He got a 13-year-old girl drunk and sodomized her in a jacuzzi.

He got the country drunk on fear and lead us into false war. And stuck us with the bill.

Yeah, I can forgive Mel.

Can we please see some cites, because those are some pretty serious claims.

I was not aware of this. :(

He was being sarcastic. Re-read what he wrote. The first line was in reference to Mel Gibson. The second was in reference to that one european director that molested a girl in the US and basically got away with it due to a failure in the courts and in many peoples belief that it is ok to forgive someone that molests an underage girl. Sorry I can't remember his name atm. The third line should be an obvious reference to GWB and Iraq. Albeit the third line could be disputed.

Well, then that was clever of him. I thought he meant it but now it seems he didn't.

You mean forgive him for this stuff he said to the mother of his child?

You look like a f****** bitch in heat. And if you get raped by a pack of n****'s, it'll be your fault.
Shut the f*** up. You should just f****** smile and blow me.
You don't apologize for nothing? Well then, you're a dishonest c***.
I need a woman, not a ****ing little girl with a f****** dysfunctional c***.
I don't need medication. You need a f****** bat on the side of the head. Alright?
I mean LEAVE c***, bitch, golddigger, c*** whore. And that's what you are.
Why don't you f*** off to that bitch Alyssia? She was f****** making eyes at me. She'd have *%@*! me in five seconds.
I'll put you in a f****** rose garden, c***. You understand that? Because I'm capable of it.
You don't f****** count, You're a f****** using whore.
Go look after my child, you f****** c*** whore. I hope she doesn't turn out like you.

Or just his drunken anti-Jewish rant when he was arrested? You know, when he said he owned Malibu and would spend all his money ruining the cop who arrested him for drunk driving.

What's he done to deserve it? He's a drunk, at the very least. Did he go to rehab? I don't know. Did he make amends to the mother of his child? He fought a settlement with her (child support) for two years.

...

Yes, I forgive him for all of that because I don't believe in holding bitterness against anyone.

My favorite was when he told his wife "If you get raped by a pack of niggers, it will be your own fault." It takes true talent to combine racism and misogyny into a single sentence like that. Stay classy, Mel.

The "pack of niggers" comment was pretty telling for me. You really have to have an ingrained sense of racism to say "pack" as opposed to group.
