Attn1 Do you care about the plight of Syria's people?

    PLEASE READ & WATCH

The United Nations recently raised the death toll for the Syrian uprising to 2,900. 20,000 Syrians are imprisoned and 7,500 are living in refugee camps in Turkey. With so many people now dead (WARNING GRAPHIC) or imprisoned, do you care about the plight of Syria's people?

Re: Do you care about the plight of Syria's people?

I feel bad for them and wish them well, but I'm not going to dwell on it. Since I'm one of the first people who bitch about America's largest export - its morality - I'd be borderline hypocritical if I was to say that I am concerned enough to justify intervention. I don't completely endorse isolationism, but something has to be of much more concern before I'd suggest we get involved.

So do I care? Sure. Scale of 1-10, maybe a 4.

Yes, I care. I think it's tragic what's happening there. I think the US should help but only minimally. We're not especially liked in that region of the world, so too much help might be taken as "empire building" instead of simply, help. I think that help should be something concrete rather than just throwing money at the problem.

As a Christian I care about most people, with the exception of Murderers, terrorists, and people who cheat.

Innocent people being killed and caring about them has it's limits. For example I would not support putting any of our troops on the ground there, but Drone attacks or Stealth Bomber strikes would be fine it they can be done effectively

I suppose I care in a very vague sense of "it's a shame those people are dying", but logically, revolutions rarely happen without bloodshed, and it's happening to people I don't know very far away, so I find it hard to really care all that much.

Sure, I also care about all the blacks being ethnically cleansed by the Obama-supported-and-funded rebels in Libya.

Sure, I care. But I'm certainly not going to support US involvement.

Re: Do you care about the plight of Syria's people?

I'm intellectually sympathetic to the plight of the Syrians, but I don't have the personal connection to get emotional about it. Intervention is a whole different matter. Political circumstances dictate what actions can be taken, not mere wishes. Military options are fraught with serious consequences and China and Russia will veto sanctions.

The U.S. is damned if they do, and damned if they don't (intervene). I'm personally tired of the "damned if they do."
