I really couldn't care less. I haven't watched NBA basketball since Jordan quit the first time around.

Nope.

From I learned about it I take it the NBA needs revenue and wants more competition in the NBA. The first I'm not sure about but the second I'm all for. Bring on a salary cap. I'm totally sick of the Lakers.

NHL gets my attention from October to June.

No.

Both the basketball and football teams have held my state hostage, demanding taxpayer built and maintained stadiums. They both got them. Meanwhile, ticket prices are so high that many dads can't take their kids to a game. There just isn't enough money floating around to sustain the pro sports business model.

Where you from, Helix?

Well he is definitely a great player thats for sure. Im not a fan of his personally BUT its not like we hang out lol so I dont really know him. But they would NEVER sway my opinion of his basketball skills. He is a great player and when he is down he will go down as a top ten player and even haters will have to have him top 20.

Among my other favorite players are Deron Williams-Nets, Danny Granger-Pacers, Tim Duncan, Ray Allen, it's actually quite a lengthy list.

I'm a student of the game so there's a lot of guys I study and try to learn from.

I have more interest in the daily bowel movements of the Vancouver Island Marmot and it's composition than I do of Basketball in general.

Oh yeah!

I like D-Will, TD and Ray are some of my all time favs. I have a long list too. Wade is probably my current fav but I like tons of guys and what they bring to the table.

I like CP too.

I used to love watching the NBA. Then it stopped being a team game. Two years ago I tried watching some of the finals. I've seen 12 year olds play a better team game at the local Boys and Girls Club. The game is so catered to the superstars that it has lost all resemblance of the game Magic, Larry, Dr. J., and Kareem used to play. I don't care if they cancel the whole season. Basketball has become like baseball to me. If my favorite team makes the post-season I'll watch, otherwise, I don't really care.

People don't know or care now, but they will once the regular season starts ticking away and the impact it could potentially have on the economy.
Whaaaaat? Think about it man...if they shut down the NBA season all those people spending money on that idiotic venture will have MORE to dump into the economy. Instead of stuffing the owners pockets and the players pockets they can buy health insurance, food, pay bills.

Its always amazed me how basketball stays as popular as it is...you have to be careful what you say about basketball because there are always those that put a racial component to it....to me basketball sucks and always has as a spectator sport...but then again I feel that way about baseball...give me boxing, martial arts, footbal and greco roman wresting anyday...Im for full contact...

Overpaid athletes who play a schoolyard game for a living can't come to an agreement about how many millions is enough to continue playing said schoolyard game?

No, I can't say that I'm worried.

whatsa a NBA ? isn't that like a management accountant

I can sympathize with much that you have to say. I think the best years of the NBA were the 70's and 80's. You had a wonderful blending of the basic fundamental team game - for lack of a better term - the White Game (think gene Hackman in HOOSIERS) and the more innovative individual artistry of the Black Game or the Playground game (think of the ABA at its craziest) . That blending produced the best basketball of all time.

Then they changed the rules to encourage more dunking, allowed for the clear out which I hate - allowed players to carry the ball ad nauseam which discouraged passing and adopted two different rules of defense for superstars and everybody else.

But I do like the playoffs and hope they work this thing out and get back on the court.

Id have to say in general I agree that the 80s was the best time for me. But I still love basketball.

Overall of the 3 most popular sports Football, Basketball, Baseball I dont think the players personalities are much different LOL People can PRETEND they are but there are a lot of overpaid unappreciative "look at me, look at me" crybabies in all of them. Basketball is just easier to see because of the games make up, on 5 players on the court and the camera is often right in their face.

And its just my opinion I always felt basketball got judged harder because its sport that more so than any other that the avg. joe cant do. There are things more so in basketball that the majority of people will never be able to do more than the other two sports and I think it turns people off.

I couldn't care less. College ball is so much better

Why stop with college? If you are looking for little talent and all passion, HS basketball is the key! Personally, i would much rather watch highly skilled players.

They charge too much for their tickets. Why am I paying over $30 for nosebleed seats to see the Charlotte Bobcats play? With somewhere around 40 home games, to see half of them I have to pay $600 for crappy seats? Why would I do that? It is no wonder they are all losing money.

I did enjoy the NBA Finals last year, though.

I don't pay anything because I know people :). But yes I do care. While Basketball isn't my favorite sport, I do watch games and I enjoy going out with a few friends sitting at a bar and watching a game.

the bobcats are garbage, I'm not jealous. Where you're from, you're probably better off sticking with college ball.

If you want to see real non stop ballin at both ends of the court, go to the Y, or just about any community gym or blacktop...win and stay; you lose...you get run off the court. All 10 players are busting their ass on both ends of the court. The NBA...hell...2, maybe 3 players are engaged on any posession and most of the 'defense' is non-existent. all the talent in the world...no doubt. But they dont produce a good product at all IMO.

I care about it a lot. I want it to ruin the NBA so that we finally get it off TV and perhaps replace it with a real sport like NHL.

Basketball sucks, the refs bet on the game, the rules aren't called fairly. It's a sham. Should have replaced it with Slamball when they had the chance. We deserve a real sport like hockey instead. More NHL, less NBA.

College hoops > NBA.

Many others have said this.

They're all right.

Don't care. Would barely miss it. Don't like the product. Too much standing around watching another player go one-on-one. Too much pushing, pulling, holding and forearm checking on defense. Don't like very many of the players. Spoiled, arrogant. They don't serve the game the game serves them. But unlike some one this thread, it still beats hockey.

We already have Hockey...we dont have more of it because most people dont watch it. Most people dont understand it. Definitely most have never played it.
