Oh getting half million dollars is so horrible! I mean, I just sit on the bench all day but I deserve what Kobe has! I mean just look at that car! I deserve that as a human being!

I have a lot of respect, though, for the athletes who play just because they want to and don't let their passion for money cloud their passion for sport and sportsmanship.

And I feel bad for fans - they're the reason why there's money to be found in sports but they get the shaft in the end.

If it has, it's nothing like the gap between the average player and the average owner.

Some rich players are actually being underpaid (LeBron James, for example). Most "poor players" are actually overpaid. Like I said before, the labor market in sports leagues doesn't really operate the same way as it does for regular businesses. The NBA is a league where the superstars pull the league along, and the league in turn pulls along the role players.

All sports figures take this turn when they put thousands and millions in front of their supposed love for the game and interest in their fans and the sport itself.

maybe they just need to live like regular people working regular job for a while and take a dose of reality.
this has actually been happening due to the lockout.

While I completely understand some fans' perception that the lockout is essentially millionaire's fighting over money, I'd also like to point out that for most of these athletes, their careers only last about a decade, if even that. Naturally both sides are going to scrap for every dollar that's at stake, and the historical track record of these things is usually that the players get screwed.

Put it on. Ain't gonna have Cheaterball...err...basketball going so let's have a real sport on TV which actually respects its rules and integrity.
You know the time is right to take control, we gotta take offense against the status quo

You'll never see NHL stars giving a "I'm talking about practice..." tirade like Iverson or crappy movies and rap albums like Shaq.
