i tend to become generally more humble, and open to the notion that my nation may not be right all the time.

Since that change is a result of release of inhibitions, one should logically analyze whether or not inhibitions are a good thing and what is the base cause of the inhibitions. I bartended for a number of years and watched and enjoyed this phenomenon. Inhibitions caused by religion, cloistering, sexual taboos, upbringing, strong political views, etc. are inhibitions. Inhibiting thought may jolt one to wonder if that is OK. Or not? I personally think that Republicans are inhibited and won't talk about issues they know that their party is wrong on. Take , for example, global warming. That can't be real because if it is real they are partly to blame! Don't you think?

But in all my years sitting around in a bar - as the saying goes, "drinking and politics don't mix". Personally - I believe that to be pretty much true.
In one of my favorite little dives arguing about religion or politics can get you barred.

They even have a big sign on the wall that says...

NO COLORS
NO FIGHTING
NO GAMBLING
NO DRUGS
NO RELIGION
NO POLITICS

I tend to voice my conservative and liberal stances I have strong views much more and talk about my deep hatred for
China.

drinking used to make my views a little more extreme, but i had different views then anyway.

now my views are pretty solid even while intoxicated. i do enjoy political discussion when having a drink, but i generally avoid it in person because other people get emotional about it, and that can kill the peaceful mood of having a drink and a nice talk with a friend. there are lots of other things to talk about, and almost every other topic is more rewarding.

I don't know why drinking would alter your views on anything, other than to make a hash of your ability to express them coherently.

Because of politics and financial corruption - Who the hell can afford to drink anymore?:2wave:
Smoking is more expensive than drinking these days. I do both, and when there's no job market for any position and trade left, there's always the option to pistol-whip a lobbyist, and take everything he's got. Some people call it felony assault with a deadly weapon, I call it getting even.

My political views don't change when I'm drinking. I just don't give a ****.

No but when i do drink i love to talk about politics.

Most of the time I hate talking politics because most people are uneducated idiots, the only real time that I get into political conversations nowadays is when I'm drinking and some other people are talking about it and I chime in to shut them up.
