Question was found on Facebook and I figured it's a good one:

Are the people who always use the race card also racists?

Simple, short, sweet.

Of course not

Of course not

Is that sarcasm?

To me people like Al Sharpton and the NAACP, who use the race card for many things, are racists.

No I was not being sarcastic...its ridiculous to state that only those that use the race card are racists..

This includes all racists. The question is if those who use the race card are also racists.

Racism is the belief that there are inherent differences in people's traits and capacities that are entirely due to their race, however defined, and that, as a consequence, racial discrimination (i.e. different treatment of those people, both socially and legally) is justified.

From Racism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Race baiting is different from racism.

/thread.

Maybe? Just because you use the race card doesn't make you racist yourself.

Race baiting isn't racism?

So it wouldn't be racist of me to call every little slight against black people racist... racism?

Interesting.

If you follow the english language and what words mean, then no, race baiting is not the same thing as racism. This is something you could have figured out for yourself with 2 minutes of research. Wiki is not hard to find, nor is dictionary.com.

Are the real racists the people who always use the race card?

It takes more than playing the race card to be racist and one does not need to play the race card in order to be racist.

What I don't get is why so many people will complain about people like Sharpton playing the race card while playing the race card themselves. "I can't do X because I am white, white people don't get Y" and so on and so forth.

I find it truly amazing that people can engage in the very behaviors they claim to despise as much as those they claim to despise for doing so.

Look at the question itself? Whoever came up with it was playing the race card when they decided to say "real racists" instead of using a more realistic term.

The race card is almost exclusively played by Liberals and who was it that fought tooth and nail against desegregation and Civil Rights until the writing was on the wall so the at that time the Southern Democrats came up with the next best way to keep minorities down, Welfare.

It managed to break up families, excuse poor or no education, and they have blamed what welfare has caused on the GOP since then.

Remember the Southern Democrats started the KKK and only allowed integration when they were faced down by Federal Troops.

Calling someone racist is another tactic out of the rules for radicals, which say to put the enemy on the defensive because it will end talk about the topic at hand.

Liberal follow those rules quite well.

Some people who use the race card are racists.
Not all racists use the race card.

Clear enough?

Uhhh no using the race card is not racist.....
I really dont see how using the race card is a racist act tho...

Again, trying to make this another Liberals vs. Conservatives thread.

If they bring it up to simply (try to) win an arguement, it is racism, or race-baiting. Being more proud of your race than another's race does not make you a racist, it simply makes you proud of your race. The Obama election brought out the word racism more than it had been seen in decades; now it is used daily as a debating tactic because you can't say anything in defense of it without appearing racist. It's getting to be a real pain in the wazoo.

Racist this....Racist That....Racist This.....Racist That.

This nation has become a mixed-up, corrupted place to live. Good Gosh!!!

Just remember this. If there was no racism. This nation would have been over-runned years and years ago by either your total ignorant un-patriotic, undesirables, illegal foriegners, un-wanted cult-like religions, or your athiest that believe humans come from frogs.

Racism keeps a fine balance of all things un-normal and un-civilized. To that of a normal world.

And it will always be around....Accept it.

Generalize much?

Good grief....most people prolly weren't even alive when the events you describe occurred.

"Liberals do this..." and "conservatives do that..." As if we all fit into little boxes and we all behaved in the same way.

Geeze louise.

And those that claim to not be racist....Are your worst.

What color is the sky in your world, dixie?

You say some of the damnest things.

Yeah, we would not want those Europeans overruning the country, nor christianity, nor people who believe some big guy in the sky waved his hand and made everything. Good point.

BTW, not every complaint of racism is phoney. The evil still exists, and sometimes, its effect becomes newsworthy.

You two understood what the hell that meant?

This is one of the big problems with all the calls of racism today. It is like the boy who cried wolf, and then when real racism comes along, every one discounts it. Race gets injected by most every one for all sorts of reasons, and 99 % of the time, it is actually irrelevant to the discussion. In part that is also why this is a stupid poll. Racism and race baiting don't have to be the same thing to both be bad.

It's not a stupid poll. It's a good question.

To me it seems it would be racist if one calls racism on many trivial things, either for simple slights or for political/selfish/non-actually-racist reasons.

Race-bainting CAN be racist if one continuously calls racism in such fashion.

Only if you change the meaning of the word racist. Challenge: define racism.
