Dude, Obama was a senator during GWB's presidency. He had the capacity and responsibility to vote for or against all of that spending...so how was his record there?

Well for one, he's not borrowing half a trillion dollars to launch an all out war to invade a country over weapons they don't have. For another, he's not pushing GSE's to buy up 5 to 6 million mortgages for those who can least afford them without first making sure legislation is passed to prevent a complete financial meltdown in case such a policy becomes consumed with corruption.

His one vote out of one hundred, even on the wrong side of the issue, would not have made a difference no matter how he voted. The same cannot be said about Bush's one vote out of one.

Right...so by your logic the senate and house are all worthless? So we elected somebody who was wasting time in the state and federal senate for 6+ years before becoming president?

Maybe that's your logic. but that's not logic derived from what I said.

As a body, the Senate and House are extremely useful ... but assigning blame to one specific Congressman/woman who represents just 1/100th of the vote in the Senate and 1/435th of the vote in House is beyond ridiculous. That's why presidents bear so much more responsibility for the legislation they sign into law than individual members of Congress since their vote represents 1/1 of the vote.

So if Obama doesn't attempt to end legislation signed Bush, is he THEN responsible?

Possibly, depends on the circumstances. Which bill do you speak of specifically?

Nevermind. I completely understand what I'm dealing with now.

Alright, I can only take the partisan spin zone for so long. My take will continue to be that Democrat and Republican administrations have hardly differed since Carter. They all wage wars, they all expand entitlements, they all support inflationists running the Fed, and they all turn into morons as soon as they step into office (suggesting they are hooelessly controlled by covert forces). These schmucks are all the same to me and I don't have much respect for the ideas of folks who still play favorites and insist on meaningful differentiation between the parties.

    Of course.

At the very least, he contributed as a senator. But I believe he contributed as President as well.
