Al Qaeda is a shadow of its former self. They haven't been able to do much in years, and this is saying something when terrorism is one of the easiest forms of asymmetrical warfare. Islamic extremism is on the way out.

How is it unpatriotic? I told you, we'd be drinking PBR.

Oh, I forgot, Osama ben Laden was killed this year. Let's hope this won't have bad consequences.

Rest assured, killing the leader of the enemy is never a bad thing. There's never been, like, "damn, we shouldn't have killed our enemy's leader! What a blunder!!". That doesn't happen. I'm not sure what reality you see, but killing their leader is good - end of story. Any "consequences" will be whatever the shattered organization can muster from their death bed. Spare me the "OOoooohhhhh! They're gonna get us BAD!!!" No dude. It's over. They'll manage something eventually, probably, but it will be nothing compared to what AlQ was once capable of.

Not scared. Don't need to hope. They're dogfood.

I didn't say that there is no more threat at all. I'm in DC, and I'll probably avoid the metro and downtown for the weekend because of the terror alert. All I'm saying is that we shouldn't stress out too much over it. After the underwear bomber, Arab Spring, and the lack of attacks I'm not too worried. The last point is especially telling. If they wanted to, terrorists could cause extreme havoc, despite increased security over the past decade. The fight is far from over, but they aren't exactly the Visigoths at the Gates of Rome.

Was this for me or for the one who voted "don't really care"?
Well, I'm not American as one can tell from my profile.

When has there been a single terrorist attack that didn't come out of the blue? When has there been a single one that was expected? None that I can think of.

    Re: 9/11/11

I don't expect any terrorist attack on 9-11....which is today now.
We stand a bigger chance of getting into our cars and wrecking or falling down our steps outside our homes...than we do falling under another terrorist attack.
Like I said before, why would anyone try anything on this particular date, I should hope we, as America, are watching more closely now, and are more prepared. I think some people are getting all worked up, with it being the 10th Anniversary date and all.
