    @repeter
    Wait, are you saying that secession is un-American?

    @U.S. Socialist
    The court held that the US Constitution did not permit the state to unilaterally secede from the US but, the US Constitution is not about permitting or not permitting the states powers. The states granted and delegated the federal government’s limited powers and everything else was reserved to the states or the people (the 10th Amendment tried to make things clear).

    Secession is our ultimate defense against federal tyranny…just as the American colonists seceded from the British Empire.

    No one "deserves" to be President.

    Should be be elligable to be President? Yes. I think the whole sucession thing floated by him is stupid, but stupidity has never directly disqualified people before.

    No, and perry cant win because of that statement. How is that man going to get up in front of Americans and explain his actions? He will get destroyed in debates. I really dont think this guy will even come in 2nd for the GOP nomination. Americans dont want another Texas governor who claims god speaks to him. This is an example of insanity, not leadership. If Texas does succeed from the Union, I would love to see them try to make it on their own. All I have heard in the last 3 months is Texas needing government aid for their current droubt problems. Maybe someday a hurricane will smash Texas and we will see just how independent they can be. They wouldnt get federal aid in the form of food, water, citizen relocation, nothing. Its easy to say you dont need America until you need America. I say we kick them out. Let them handle their own disasters and poverty on their own. They are a state based on outdated christian beliefs and influence. They are the most racially biased state in America. They dont believe in the EPA, Clean energy, or enforcing gun restrictions. They are the only state that hates America and I would be 100% Ok with erasing them off the United States map. Any form of leadership thats EVER come out of Texas has done horrid for our nation anyways.

    I though Texas had already seceded. We have our passports ready when we drive across on I40.

    I think a big deal is being made out of very little. As has been pointed out already, secession talk in Texas is a longtime joke. Texas Monthly magazine once had a cover showing how Texas could be divided into five states. BurkaBlog :: When Texas Monthly called for secession

    How many times has Perry commented on secession? Once? Is this a plank in his platform? If it isn't, my bet is that this is just a petty way to go after him.

    That's the only good reason I've heard so far to support Perry.

    Seems to me it's legal for him to run, so I don't understand this.
