Re: Who is responsible for the downgrading of the American credit status?

Both of them.....neither of them will cut what needs to be cut...they arent even looking at what needs to be done first....you have one side just railing on public workers and entitlements as the great evil and the other side wanting to protect their spending...

No one is looking at ending foreign aid...bringing home non essential troops from germany and elsewhere, ending subsidies to super rich corporations...the cost of illegal immigrants is crushing to this country their FREE medical costs alone...I could go on bout you get my drift..
Thats why myself and others are pissed that the teaparty just wants to hammer workers and seniors and give tax cuts to the rich thats what they are interested in instead of doing what needs to be done FIRST....same with the democrats.

    Our federal government.
We became a great nation not because we are a nation of cynics. We became a great nation because we are a nation of believers - Lindsey Graham

The downgrade is the result of years of deficits and a current lack of political consensus is Washington. Can't lay the blame on one person or one group.

    Americans.

    According to S & P:

S&P said it was now "pessimistic about the capacity of Congress and the administration to be able to leverage their agreement this week into a broader fiscal consolidation plan that stabilizes the government's debt dynamics anytime soon."
Sounds to me as if the fault lies with Congress and it's absurd ranting, hooting, and finger pointing instead of working together to meet a significant challenge.

But, now they will see the need to cooperate... what?

In reacting to the downgrade, Democrats and Republicans continued to blame each other and pledged to hold firm to their principles.
    Oh, never mind. We're screwed.

I'm going with Harry. We're the idiots who keep voting for these jackasses (even those of us who try to vote against them by not voting for either party)

I picked other since all the above is not a option. Everybody is responsible for not making adequate cuts. You do not solve a spending problem by making meager cuts and borrowing more money that will put us further into debt.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

I deny all responsibility, I was at work that day.
