Sorry I offended your vastly superior intellect.

A problem with no solution ?
We are paying the high price for the break up of the family.
But this is but part of it.
Intolerance too has a high price.
As these "meth-heads" are actually stealing from the public, my idea is to incarcerate them for life in slave prisons, and if they manage to OD on drugs again, that would be the end of their life...
Horrible response ? yes !
Prevention is a better answer..We need much better child protective services...
And taxes will increase, the tea baggers be damned !

Before we continue, I hope everyone appreciates a wee bit of satire.

Yes, but why via a poll? Anyway, it's sure showing what the function of SS is thought to be as opposed to what its function is. I support the intended function of SS, and its doing reasonably well.

Yeah, that is a typical poor person. Where is this person and how is it that you came to know so much about them? It seems like a hyperbolic fabrication to me. There are thousands of people in any given county that visit the ICU 30-40 times? Do you have any proof of that claim?

If you want to see some real parasites visit your bank.

No...its not a 'typical poor person'. Nor did I claim it to be a typical poor person but hey...lets just ignore the fact that there are thousands and thousands just like this or in varying forms. Lets pretend that every 'poor person' is just simply a truly needy and disabled person that needs our support. Cuz...thats helping SOOOO much.

Do you have data to back up this "fact"? (You would have done better saying it's just your opinion.)

Remember, they is us.
The retirement age should be bumped up to 70 for a great many, but surely not all.
Coal miners should be at 50 to 55, its that hazardous.
Life insurance salesmen .. 70 to 80.....
Politicans....never...

And they should all pay in the same, regardless, right?

I see an average of 450 patients a year. Im one of a team of 7 responders and we see about the same number of people. Thats not including the salaried full time employees. They see a lot more. Not everyone we see is a medicaid recipient. Not every recipient is typical of the case I cited. But significant numbers. Anecdotal? Sure...believe it...dont...I dont really care. If you really dont see this as a problem, theres nothing I can say to you...you dont WANT to see it. If you dont think medicare recipient fraud is a problem, youve never done any research on it. Every state has a department that investigates the problem. Every state has similar problems. And the the case I cited wasnt even fraudulent...they are simply a by-product of an enabling system.

The funny part is that instead of being pissed that the system creates such people, or being pissed that it is so easily and readily abused by both fraudulent recipients and fraudulent caregivers, defenders of the system ignore the fraud, downplay the abuses...and cost those that TRULY need the services.

If you really want some reading pleasure on fraudulent claims...sure...there are tons out there. $Billions in Medicare/Medicaid lost to fraud, abuse - National Law Enforcement | Examiner.com Medicaid abuse is rampant - South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com Medicaid Abuse From The Mind of a Paramedic | Public Safety Blog http://www.ncleg.net/documentsites/...September 7, 2010/Lisa Weeks Presentation.pdf

Draw your own conclusions. And keep 'helping' folks.

Seniors should get outta SS what they pay into it.

Won't disagree. If I remember SS was never intended to be a supplement to retirement, a safety net. For many it has changed to being the only income. Many have not taken responsiblity and planned for retirement.
Not to derail the thread but I got to ask, should the same be said for unemployment checks? It seems with all of the extension, many have drawn in more than they paid.

Old people gotta go.

Hey...for fun...from the last study cited...

About 3,000 Medicaid recipients have been identified as candidates for a Lock-in program due to abuses
0.2% of 1.6 million current recipients

In one state.

Recipients (of Lock-in programs to address abuse)are identified for the program by meeting the
following criteria:
-Have filled more than 6 prescriptions for either opioid
pain relievers or anti-anxiety (benzodiazepine)
medications within a two month period; OR
-Have been prescribed these medications by more than 3
prescribers within a two month period; OR
-Have been referred by a provider, DMA or CCNC

I used to live next to Sun City, they are terrible drivers, terror on wheels....
Just remember someday you will be "old/retired" and be one of them. That is unless one of "them" gets you first.

They smell funny, nobody likes them, they can't drive proper...

Enough is enough.

So are seniors who payed into social security all their lives and now live off of it in old age, lazy good for nothing leftist parasites?

I resemble that remark, and me and my friends fit all the criteria. Why are we limited to one choice?

So in your opinion why did I pay into SS?

Unquestionably - some are.

Because you were forced to.

Your right SS was not a choice and good or bad I intend to get every cent plus interest back on my SS investment, please be a good conservative and try to eliminate or reduce SS so that the people can see what conservatives are all about, do it before 2012 so that we can vote all of your lot out of office

Considering the amount of money that people pay into the soc. sec from every paycheck, whatever they receive back when they get older, is only a pitance of what they've paid in. One is apt to not live long enough to draw every dime he/she has involuntarily been made to pay into it. And if the powers that be, would keep their greedy hands off of it, or at the very least, pay back what they steal from it, there would be no problem with soc. sec. Also, sit in the waiting room and check out the ages of many that are getting money that have not even come close to retirement age and look able bodied enough to be out working. Hmmmmm.......scam jobs. They've figured out a way to steal money from those that have paid into all their working lives. I can also smell the stench of mega soc sec bucks being handed over to illegals..... And yet..........many think the elderly aren't worthy of drawing what is theirs...........Bruhahahahahahahahahahahahaha.....Give me a break......

Here's the thing...
You paid into it, so you are.... entitled... to something out of it.
However, you are not... entitled... to any sepecific benefit. You might get $0.70 for every $1.00 you put in, and you might not get it until you are 70.

That's what you get for allowing the government to take your money on the promise to pay you 'something' back.

In America, when a person works all his/her life paying into soc. sec, he or she has the right to receive some back no matter the amount. It could be, one of these days, possibly a couple decades from now, it won't be around and then everyone can bitch and whine about that. I won't be around then but I wish I could be a spider on the wall listening to people crying in their beer because the money was stolen and the fund dismantled, so to speak, leaving a kazillion people in the lurch wishing they had that money to help make their lives just a tad easier. Getting some soc. sec. might be the deciding factor as to whether or not they will have food in their fridges, or if they'll be able to pay some on their heating bill. Or could be it'll keep them from having to sit in the dark.

It doen't matter whether some are "parasites". If they worked for decades paying into it, then they have a right to it. Speaking of parasites, I have seen an endless supply of 30's and 40's somethings, both working and not working, that are sucking off the government tit. I don't know how they're doing it while working tho'. Must be getting paid under the table. Whenever there are handouts, you can count on leaches being there draining the system any way they can. They've learned how to play the system.

Those people paid in a few bucks each paycheck, and will draw hundreds each month. When seniors were in the workforce, the cost of living was much lower, and the dollar was worth more.

If you think drawing "hundreds" (prob'ly 400-500) is enough for them to live off for a month, then try doing it. You will quickly learn that no matter what your age, the bills keep rolling in. So $500 a month is a pitance. Even if they are living in their childs home, there is still money needed for personal care, food, clothing, and possibly chipping in for heat and electric. So a mere few hundred isn't going to go very far.

Sounds like you should have taken a little more responsibility for yourself and better planned for your retirement.

Then you should be more careful with your language. You said...

The OP doesnt really apply to seniors. It is a mocking/baiting poll kinda thread in response to people like...oh...say...me that have no problem proclaiming certain segments of our society parasites. Its fun...because then we can draw the completely unconnected conclusion that since seniors who have typically spent a lifetime working and paying into the social security system arent parasites, then its absurd to call the welfare class parasites.

You seem to be generalizing with references to segments and classes.

You have not established that there are thousands and thousands of people that are like your hyperbolic example. You have not established that there isd one person like that and it still seems to be a fabrication.

Welfare spending is not set to explode. The welfare reform of 96 did about as much as can be done without government snooping in to the lives of beneficiaries at an extreme level and cost. The law of diminishing returns is a factor in determining how far we should go to eliminate abuse and fraud. Eliminating it completely is a stupid and counterproductive goal.
