    Re: Are Seniors Lazy Parasites

A problem with no solution ?
We are paying the high price for the break up of the family.
But this is but part of it.
Intolerance too has a high price.
As these "meth-heads" are actually stealing from the public, my idea is to incarcerate them for life in slave prisons, and if they manage to OD on drugs again, that would be the end of their life...
    Horrible response ? yes !
Prevention is a better answer..We need much better child protective services...
And taxes will increase, the tea baggers be damned !

Yes, but why via a poll? Anyway, it's sure showing what the function of SS is thought to be as opposed to what its function is. I support the intended function of SS, and its doing reasonably well.

No...its not a 'typical poor person'. Nor did I claim it to be a typical poor person but hey...lets just ignore the fact that there are thousands and thousands just like this or in varying forms. Lets pretend that every 'poor person' is just simply a truly needy and disabled person that needs our support. Cuz...thats helping SOOOO much.

Do you have data to back up this "fact"? (You would have done better saying it's just your opinion.)

I see an average of 450 patients a year. Im one of a team of 7 responders and we see about the same number of people. Thats not including the salaried full time employees. They see a lot more. Not everyone we see is a medicaid recipient. Not every recipient is typical of the case I cited. But significant numbers. Anecdotal? Sure...believe it...dont...I dont really care. If you really dont see this as a problem, theres nothing I can say to you...you dont WANT to see it. If you dont think medicare recipient fraud is a problem, youve never done any research on it. Every state has a department that investigates the problem. Every state has similar problems. And the the case I cited wasnt even fraudulent...they are simply a by-product of an enabling system.

The funny part is that instead of being pissed that the system creates such people, or being pissed that it is so easily and readily abused by both fraudulent recipients and fraudulent caregivers, defenders of the system ignore the fraud, downplay the abuses...and cost those that TRULY need the services.

If you really want some reading pleasure on fraudulent claims...sure...there are tons out there. $Billions in Medicare/Medicaid lost to fraud, abuse - National Law Enforcement | Examiner.com Medicaid abuse is rampant - South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com Medicaid Abuse From The Mind of a Paramedic | Public Safety Blog http://www.ncleg.net/documentsites/C...esentation.pdf

Draw your own conclusions. And keep 'helping' folks.

Won't disagree. If I remember SS was never intended to be a supplement to retirement, a safety net. For many it has changed to being the only income. Many have not taken responsiblity and planned for retirement.
Not to derail the thread but I got to ask, should the same be said for unemployment checks? It seems with all of the extension, many have drawn in more than they paid.

Hey...for fun...from the last study cited...

About 3,000 Medicaid recipients have been identified as candidates for a Lock-in program due to abuses
0.2% of 1.6 million current recipients

    In one state.

Recipients (of Lock-in programs to address abuse)are identified for the program by meeting the
    following criteria:
-Have filled more than 6 prescriptions for either opioid
    pain relievers or anti-anxiety (benzodiazepine)
medications within a two month period; OR
-Have been prescribed these medications by more than 3
prescribers within a two month period; OR
-Have been referred by a provider, DMA or CCNC
