Would Tax Cuts help create Jobs?

The lack of Job Creation and real Economic Growth in the Obama Economy is the biggest problem this country faces.........although Obama--Pelosi--Reid spending this country into oblivion is #2 and rising fast. Without Job Creation....our econmic and fiscal ills are only going to worsen, which is why a tax cut.....a "pay raise" to every Employer, Consumer, and Producer in this country is a clear and proven solution to getting this country back on the right track.....and off the left track.

So do Tax Cuts help create Jobs? I will supply the facts.....you decide..........

Three of the Largest Tax Cuts in US History.......

Unemployment Rate After The Bush Tax Cuts

Unemployment Rate After The Reagan Tax Cuts

Unemployment Rate After The JFK/Johnson Tax Cuts

I love how you never include anything from the Clinton era, or the fact that after Clinton was in office, not once since then has unemployment been below 4%. Going by what you are saying, cutting taxes during Bush should have made unemployment less right?

In theory, some of those loopholes were understandable, but in practice they sometimes made it possible for millionaires to pay nothing, while a bus driver was paying ten percent of his salary, and that’s crazy." -Reagan

Three of the Largest Tax Cuts in US History.......

Unemployment Rate After The Bush Tax Cuts
Never got as low as it did under Clinton when marginal rates were higher.

Unemployment Rate After The Reagan Tax Cuts
Never got as low as it did under Clinton which followed a tax increase.

Unemployment Rate After The JFK/Johnson Tax Cuts
The top rate was still 70%.

My point in all this is that I don't think it makes much of a difference either way. Two of your graphs simply show a dip in the unemployment rate following a recession. That's kind of a given.

The two greatest economic post war economies were under LBJ when the top marginal rate was 70% and under Clinton when the top marginal rate was higher than under Bush or Reagan.

What would happen if the tax rate for businesses was set to 0% or near 0%? Would job growth go up or down? Please explain what would happen.

oops I thought you were talking about tax hikes...I wish I could Change my Answer back to Yes now that i read the Question more precisely. Raising taxes never increases Jobs Growth and lowering the right kind ala buisness taxes etc will certainly free up compoanies who are wanting to add more workers but are holding back as they do not know what the effective tax rate will be in the near future....

Would it have gone even lower had BJ cut taxes?

Wonder what helped bring about the end of those recessions?........was it tax hikes?

So high tax rates yield booming economies?

Re: Would Tax Cuts help create Jobs?

Your graph doesn't really address whether unemployment changes based on taxes, or if tax cuts tend to be passed when there is a period of growth, when jobs are being created. Who is to say that unemployment wouldn't have dropped even farther without the tax cuts?

When it comes to job creation, the only way I know of to it is to create a demand, and then go into business supplying for that demand. As such, I would speculate that jobs are created in times of great invention, and when the middle class has money to spend on luxuries. If the middle class has more money to spend on luxuries, then more companies will have a niche to fill to supply those luxuries. By luxuries, I mean everything from monogrammed handkerchiefs to the latest toy that kids want for Christmas to better cars and houses, and everything in between. A larger and wealthier middle class can consume more, and so more commerce and industry can be supported. The upper class, meanwhile, is far too small to consume on that scale. Even if they had all the money in the world, they simply couldn't spend it fast enough to keep an economy going.
