I went with just spending cuts. We can slow/stop the rate of increased government spending to lower than the rate of economic growth without raising revenue. Increasing taxes will, in the long run, be counterproductive.

I voted for spending cuts. We could reduce a lot of waste by reducing the size of government and all its bureaucratic branches. It's not what the plutocrats in congress want, but it's definitely an avenue worth taking. We also need to cut social spending and the military to some degree.

Our nation's problem - from the top down to the average joe - has always been lack of conservation. See: avoid spending money you don't have, or if you need to have loans, make sure they are not for depreciating factors with no hope of returns.

If our government can revive some fiscal conservative values, our nation will make it through this.

I voted for both.
We should incrrease taxes on the richest of the rich, and reduce spending on unnecessary programs and wasteful spending. But we should not cut spending on Education, Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security, and other benefits for the needy..

Both. Military spending especially needs to be cut. Agriculture subsidies would be another good target. We need to repeal the Bush tax cuts and then some if we want to have any hope of digging ourselves out of this, though.

i hereby apologize for ever taking your expressed 'lean' as a two-dimensional image of you.

i wish we could have in there effective-rate-neutral tax reform that strips out all the provisions, loopholes, credits, shelters, etc. i think that would be amazingly productive.

It is entirely the wrong time to do stuff like that. Anything remotely like that would have significant ripple effects that would be difficult at best to predict. It is something that if it is done, should be done slowly and during good economic times.

Vote Maggots!

I accidentally voted, I do not think the debt ceiling should be raised. I do think there should be massive spending cuts and no tax increases.
