They haven't debated each other yet. The economy is what's going to hurt Obama and right now Bachmann is pounding him hard on it. If she gets the nomination and faces him in a debate, they'll have to clean Obama up off the floor with a mop.

wow, you're either being totally sarcastic....or you really have no idea what's going on with Bachmann.

I know the liberals are visibly afraid of her, which is why they keep attacking her.

Bachmann has a lot more experience now than Obama had when he was elected in 2008.

Yet Obama has a lot more than her now than she has in regards to relevant to the job. And no, she doesn't really have a "lot" more. She has 2 more years of experience in the house than Obama had in the senate. That's not a "lot". And really, its damning with faint praise to try and claim she's got a bit more than Obama did in 08 when the lack of experience in 08 was a big hit against Obama. She's just Bad instead of REALLY bad when it comes to experience then? Well, that's much better.

Obama has a lot more experience at being a failure.

in what, saying insane and ridiculous things?

I bet she knows what GI is living that got the congressional medal of honor. I also bet she knows what day it is and how many states there are.

Obama has done just as much as Bachmann but you ignore that

i dont know why your only choices could be landslide win or loss, because i think he will win but not by a huge majority

Because the person who started this poll can only think in absolutes.

Going strictly by his approval ratings, which hold steady at just under 50%, he'll probably win, but not in a landslide. We're very divided and growing more so.

I would like to see Bachmann as the nominee. It would be historic and a very good fight, and I'd like to see a woman elected President. A conservative woman, of course.

I believe that the only way a woman will become President, is if she is a Conservative woman.

...though I also used to believe the only way a black man could become President, was if he too was Conservative.

But then Bush showed up, and he reset the whole planet. :)

I was pretty confident the first black POTUS would be a Republican, only because the Dems are so out of step with most Americans. BO campaigned on platitudes, puppy dogs and rainbows and for reasons I still don't understand - people liked it! I did not foresee that.

PS - Why don't you as a liberal believe a liberal woman can be elected?

Crap! I screwed up the edit! I was referring to your comment

Absolutely no doubt about it whatsoever, yes.

I can agree with you there. It would be highly entertaining! :sun Unfortunately, the only way the GOP would allow Bachman to be the nominee were if they had already made the decision to throw in the towel on this election, which may possibly be the case.

Partisan stuff aside, I have to say she is impressing me more and more as a candidate. She's scrappy as hell and ready with her answers, without seeming at all cowed by her detractors. She steps up and swings! I like her.

If the Texas primary were tomorrow? and Perry wasn't on the ballot? I'm thinking, hell why not? I'd vote Bachmann.

Oh. And please quote all of my post in the future. Thanks. (Isn't that a rule here anyway?)

Well you have made an impression on me by sincerely thinking Bachman is 2012 candidate material. Best of luck in the primaries!!! :sun

If Bachwoman or Palin are the headliners of the race then 100% chance Obama will be back. Palin lost the 2008 election for the GOP. Bachman just doesnt have anything going for her except the religious GOP'ers. Romney MIGHT be able to compete.

Palin lost the 2008 election for the GOP.

Actually a far larger case could be made that Palin kept the 2008 election from being a landslide instead of just a solid loss. In the wake of her announcement McCain had his first rise above Obama in the polls in month, helped make the RNC far more helpful to their ticket than the DNC was to Obama's, significantly increased cash donations into the campaign, invigorated an apathetic base that may not have turned out in decent numbers, and generally did not begin to truly get the staggeringly bad numbers with "independents" close to teh end and after the election at a time when McCain was also polling poorly with independents and Obama had been polling AMAZINGLY well with them from the start.

McCain and his horrible campaign strategy hurt the GOP in 2008, not Palin.

Looking at the alternatives on offer, the only question is the size of his winning margin.
