    Presidential Report Card

I shouldn't even bother with the first 3-4 options, but wth. There may be rose-colored glasses on board.

As in any other report card, it would be greatly appreciated if you gave at least one (if not more) example of what he is not only doing wrong, but doing right.

I'll post in a bit after I start the poll.

C/C-. Campaign Obama is nothing what Presidential Obama is. Healthcare was a good try, but done wrong. Libya was a mistake. Passing the Patriot Act pisses me off.

    I quite agree.

AUSTAN GOOLSBEE: I think the world vests too much power, certainly in the president, probably in Washington in general for its influence on the economy, because most all of the economy has nothing to do with the government.

Now we just need to get the poll results to him. I really should have just left off everything above B-, and specified through to F-.

    Re: Presidential Report Card

Party leadership: B-, seems to be willing to meet with dems and reaffirm message, but doesn't seem willing to do much until asked

Bipartisan leadership: D+, has blatantly blocked out repubs on a few occasions, only includes them in talks when pressed, does a LOT of finger pointing and name calling on the self-promotion trips he's made

Foreign relations: C-, waits too long to respond..got us involved in another offensive, doesn't seem to be taking a strong leadership role there

Economic leadership: D, his policies inherently disagree with those which I feel are best and we haven't seen positive results from the Stimulus. Bailout repayment reports involve a lot of fuzzy math and re-arranged figures in some case, government stock ownership in a private company for the purpose of keeping said company afloat is worrisome and over-extends govt.'s role/authority

Social-policy leadership: B-, his passive-aggressive approach to gay rights issues isn't leadership, it's tacit rejection of the status quo. Changes require action. His entitlement proposals (or lack there of) don't solve any problems, but don't cause them either.

Education: B+, i agree strongly with his assertions regarding parents being more actively involved and like the general idea of federal money being allocated on the basis of school performance, but only if checks are put in place to assure we don't have an Atlanta-like situation for the sake of funding/recognition.

    Overall average: C/C+

    Agreed. 123
Nobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.

Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.

All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

I am surprised that you gave him a better grade than me Tessy.

    Re: Presidential Report Card

my vote went to a C+. I would give Obama higher if he would show some guts and stand up to the right wingers a whole lot more. When he signed the tax cuts after the election - that was a terrible mistake.

I think he has done more good than bad but his move to the right to placate the right wing is just not a good thing.
