Is Wille Nelson getting screwed?
Willie struck a plea bargain last month in West Texas -- in which prosecutors agreed to reduce his pot possession charge to misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia ... if the singer agreed to plead no contest.

Willie would have only had to pay a $500 fine -- but the judge outright rejected that deal Wednesday ... claiming the singer was getting special treatment.

According to the judge, Nelson should be charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession -- which could put him in jail for a year.

He should get 20 years for the way he looks and another 20 for his singing.

.

He should be immune to prosecution as a national treasure.

Considering the volume found in his bus, the misdemeanor possession of marijuana charge is getting off pretty easy. He'll probably still only end up with a fine. Nobody's putting Willie in prison.

hearing his name always reminds me of the an old joke.

A lady was in love with Elvis (told you it was old) so she goes to her local tattoo parlor and has his face tattooed on both of her inner thighs. She is not quite convinced that they really look like Elvis, so she goes to a friend, pulls down her pants and asks if they can tell who it is. The friend looks for a couple of minutes and then finally says, "I don't know about the two on either side, but the one in the middle is a dead ringer for willie nelson

Maybe we can have another free Willie campaign.:2razz:

By this stage of his life Im reasonably certain Willie Nelson needs an adequate amount of marijuana to oxygen mixture to be able to live. And BTW...Willie is and should be the poster child for marijuana legalization. Whats the harm in being mello?

Getting any time in jail for possessing pot is excessive.

Willie Nelson is clearly a harm to society and must absolutely be put away in jail for the damage he has done to society with his heinous crimes...

Man american drug laws are ****inh stupid.

Willie is a multi-decade pot smoker... everyone knows it in law enforcement. He's sort of getting the shaft because for multi-decades he's been getting away with it because he's a well known singer/songwriter. He's sorta not getting the shaft because he's gotten away with it for so long... he finally got a judge who's sick of the law not pertaining to specific segments of our population because of their fame. Willie's had it coming for a long time... it was bound to happen. A year off in a cushy celebrity jail, playing harmonica for the other white collar inmates sounds like it would do Willie a lot of good.

You misspelled ****inh......it's ****ing.

OK...DISAGREEING with marijuana laws and all that...I DO see the judges point. Willie Nelson is associated with two things...country music and pot. He has been busted so many times he is like Otis from the Andy Griffith show...he could just walk into the jail and sleep off his buzz...every night. And no 'regular' citizen is going to repeatedly have things overlooked with a wink and a nod.

I've never heard of a judge throwing out a plea bargain between a defendant and a DA. The deal was made. If I was the DA, and some punk judge pulled that **** on me, I'd drop all the charges and let Willie go free. Bear in mind, it could be any defendant, not just a famous one.

Leave poor Willie alone! He's never hurt a flea.

It happens quite often.

Then Willie should plead not guilty, demand a trial by jury, and stretch the case out for 3 or 4 years. The pot was found during a search of the bus. Willie isn't the only person that rides on that bus. Make the DA prove that the weed belonged to Willie.

I agree with you on that point but I also feel this guy doesnt give a crap regarding drug law either. So for him thinking the law doesnt pertain to him, I say toss his ass in the pokey!

But didn't Willie already admit to it seeing how Willie agreed to a plea bargain?

He could tell them that he was high when he made that plea bargain?

Admitting to being under the influence of a substance he is accused of possessing to try to escape a possession charge?

Well, you can't get busted for ashes (I don't think).

IS a under the influence charge better than a possession charge?

It's too late. He would be straight as an arrow now, or at least when he goes to court.

But wouldn't saying he was high when he made the plea bargain be basically admitting to being under the influence?

He would be admitting to having been high in a past tense. Water under the bridge. Say someone here admitted to marijuana use 15 years ago. Could they be arrested for being under the influence?
