Surely a minimum wage of $50.00/hr would solve all problems........

Are you trying to suggest that the minimum wage and not the financial meltdown is the reason that unemployment went up? Seriously?

Are you seriously trying to suggest raising the minimum wage has no effect on employment?

5 of the 6 largest increases in the Minimum Wage were followed by a rise in UNEMPLOYMENT........Coincidence of course.......

price floors and price ceilings tend to produce powerful unintended consequences irregardless of the particular good involved. including labor.

Why I think we should have a ceiling, like maybe $100,000/year. Yeah that's the ticket. What do you think? Nobody makes more than that, including our elected officials....like Obama.

Funny thing about the income cap is it will put some companies out of business. Companies that specialize in luxuries and high-end items won't have a market anymore.

Yeah price ceilings are dumb when it comes to wages.

Do you support a minimum and maximum wage?

I support a minimum wage law
I support a maximum wage law
I support minimum benefits law
I support Maximum benefits law
I oppose a minimum wage law
I oppose a maximum wage law
I oppose a minimum benefits law
I oppose a maximum benefits law
other/I do not know

When I say benefits I mean things like pensions, sign on bonuses, bonuses, profit sharing and other things that an employee may get.

About the only thing I support is minimum wage law.

I voted for "Other."

I support either a minimum wage or a maximum wage but not both.

Really, though, minimum wages are easier to implement and enforce, so I think that is preferable.

I do not support a maximum wage as you shouldn't limit how much a person can make. However, when it comes to benefits, I think it should be dealt with on a case by case basis. For example, if you are in charge of a company and you worked hard and played by the rules and helped increase the wealth of your company and you get a big bonus, I have no problem with that. But if you put your company in the shi*ter and you get a golden parachute, I think that all the benefits should be taken away from you.

I feel we should have a min as well as a max wage, this includes benefits.

I don't see why we would have a maximum wage. Minimum wages are fine by me, but like Cephus said, if you are a grown ass adult you shouldn't be trying to live on a minimum wage job especially raising a family. Minimum wage jobs should be transitory in nature, not permanent placement.

I have no problem with persons becoming very wealthy, however I do feel at some point wealth goes beyond a reasonable point and goes into absurd.
For example I personally do not feel it is right for a person to have as much wealth as 200K people earn in a lifetime. No person has contributed that much to mankind. Multi billionaires have more wealth then can ever be used in any sort of reasonable fashion. So instead of a person having more then they can ever use why not let others have a chance at more.

I am certainly suggesting that raising the minimum wage does not have the affect on unemployment that you are trying to suggest with you graph.

Just because there is a "max salary" doesn't mean that other people are going to get paid more. Without a max salary, people get a chance at as much money as their effort/skills are worth. People that make money by taking risks by investing in business are just as important, if not more important to job creation than the government.
