So if we pile on does it cost jobs and reduce the taxes paid by all those who are laid off.

I say leave them alone and I think it's a no brainers because profit makes growth possible.

This is absolutely hilarious cheerleading....GE MADE 9 billion dollars and not only didnt pay ONE DIME but got a 300,000,000 tax credit...and your writhing your hands they pay to much....laugh....and wheres the growth ??? when more than half their profit was made outside of the USA...please...corporations suck

So, if they followed the law, found existing loopholes and used them... they actually broke the law and should be punished? OR are you in fact admitting they broke no law, but should be punished anyway?

Tell that to the conservative controlled Surpreme Court....
Good luck; Obama may never be able to fix this one.

    Try again.

Furthermore, it makes no sense for the Federal government to tax worldwide income that cannot be sourced to any real material behavior or goods in America. So if GE lost the bank in the US but made lots overseas, it should not have to pay US federal corporate income tax.
They followed the law and should not be punished. And, the law is what the US voters have selected indirectly; they are allowed to be stupid.
I have inside knowledge of GE ’08 thru ’10. One thing was the effort to move jobs to India. Also to bring unqualified Indian engineers here because qualified American engineers were deemed unqualified by GE and this is supported by US law. Yup, they aren’t breaking any laws. It’s not against the law for GE to help write the laws they will not break. So who is feigning surprise?

Some data from the web site given by obvious Child:
In 2010, GE had 133,000 employees in the United States. In 2004, it had 165,000. The declines occurred every year, totaling 32,000 jobs lost in six years. If you went back even further you’d see more domestic job shedding.
Meantime, the company’s foreign employment has shot upward. In 1996, GE had 84,000 workers in foreign countries. The number reached 172,000 by 2007 before dipping to 154,000 in 2010. GE itself has said it: There were growth opportunities abroad.

GE should be out of business. They do nothing for the people who need energy. They overbill and steal so they can have their mansions all over the world and their fine wine. plus, all the dick lickers they can find.

    You're kidding... aren't you?

GE and other USA corporations are so easy to demonize it would be malpractice for politicians to not have a go at them.
