We agree on the loud and annoying, but the bigots are on your side. My side is the one being called names.

Oh, boo hoo for you! Gays get called all kinds of names.

I also have to say that many of your statements are very insulting to all people who have either adopted or gone through IVF.

Remember the context of our exchange, that this started with the claim that Christians are like Islamists in their pursuit of persecuting gays.

Islamists wouldn't let you live long enough to decide you're not going to report something.

Christians have an opinion, but we don't seek you out and kill you. Our churches even preach tolerance, so most of us don't even make an issue of it verbally.

The level of crime gays experience in America is not significantly greater then the level of crime anyone else in America experiences.

You're nothing special. In fact, the level of crime gays endure being relatively the same as everyone else is one thing that makes you equal to everyone else.

Hmm I remember the context being different...

I came up with things we have to complain about.

I dont think 70% of straight people have been harassed about their sexuality nor do 31% of straight kids have to miss a day of school because they felt unsafe. Also I didnt realize we judge equality based off of crime rates. We still dont have the right to marry nor do our spouses get the same benefits of heterosexual spouses in the military.

Yeah, cuz you know I've always hated them faggots.

You love *****. So do I. My loving it can lead to kids. That should be controlled somehow. Yours can lead to . . . . nothing of consequence. Don't insult me by pretending we're on the same level, cuz we are not.

Wow, were you trying to show an example of the perfectly bigoted post? If so, well done!

From the legal perspective, the right to marry has literally nothing to do with kids.

Morality clause. Behavior not appropriate or becoming of an employee of the company.

Basically, if someone from work were to see me kissing my boyfriend in public that could be construed as "immoral" behavior and be grounds for dismissal.

funny, when I was on active duty, if someone were to see me kissing my wife in public I could be punished for "public display of affection" PDA.

this is bull****, the numbers are about the same. straight kids just feel unsafe for different reasons (too fat, too skinny, wears glasses, poor, etc, etc, etc, etc)

Now, I don't agree with jerry on the vast majority of things. That said...

What makes your getting harassed for being gay any worse or more hurtful or damaging to emotions then someone being made fun of for being a geek? For being fat? For being poor? For being rich? For being smart? For being akward around the opposite sex? For being a virgin? For being a member of the band? For being a red head? For being a blonde? For being short? For being southern? For being northern? For your parents job? For your parent being in prison? For your siblings actions?

I could go on and on. I'm not saying homosexuals are not harassed, or that its not a bad thing, but I do understand a bit of Jerry in regards to the "woe is me no one understands how horrible and mean people pick on us" things as if somehow, someway, homosexuals are special snowflakes that are the only people in this country who are picked on for things they don't actively tangably choose.

And how many of them missed school because of it? I showed statistics please do the same.

Includes off-duty hours as well? If so, that's just dumb.

No. In fact, it only applies while in uniform. Plus, there are several times in uniform when it completely okay to kiss your significant other (of the opposite sex, until DADT is officially repealed, anyway), such as homecoming or military ball. And, it is highly unlikely (it happens, but is very rare) that any punishment will be given to someone for simply kissing their wife while in uniform. Most often, the military member will simply be given a warning not to do it.

I read somewhere that when you don't ask the question suggestively, by only providing an "either/or" choice, but rather ask people "on a scale from 0 (hetero) to 100 (homo), where would you place yourself?", then by far most people don't chose either extreme, but somewhere in the middle.

And other cultures/past European cultures defined "love" differently than we do today. Loving affection between members of the same sex was acceptable under certain cultural conditions, even if sex was not necessarily acceptable.

So I believe most of it is culturally conditioned, even if most people probably have a natural tendency towards a particular sex.

It's funny. Listing to Jerry reminds me of those early 19th century people who said things like, "Those negro slaves have nothing to complain about because they would be living like savages if not for us."

Perspective is an interesting thing.

So, this guy:

should have been punished for a public display of affection? He was in uniform, after all.

Because being gay is considered worse than all of the above. When you want to truly insult someone you call them a faggot.

Yeah, when the cops beat the **** out of a homosexual does that show up in the crime rate? It used to be done openly just as recently as 30-35 years ago, but police brutality against homosexuals is still fairly high.

I wasnt arguing that certain types of harassment are worse then others. Being beat up for something is just as bad as being beat up for something else. But the frequency of it happening is certainly nothing to scoff at nor is the fact that a large percentage of lgbt people are killed for being lgbt and most of the types of people you listed arnt.

yeah right. them dirty cops is always beating up fags, niggers and jews for no reason. we should kill all them crooked pigs

Federal government prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation for federal employees.

Yes - it would - if they were found guilty of excessive use of force or faced a judgement of some nature. . . it would be with thoes statistics.

Statistics are what's been filed or reported - they do not account for what hasn't be reported. . .which means that if two people are in a fight and there are no charges filed - there's no statistical data for that as well.

faggot today is like calling someone a bitch or a bastard. most people don't really get that worked up about it. if you really want to insult someone...... call them a Christian ;)

Maybe for your particular unit, but my parents were married in 1979, while they were both in the Army and both stationed in Germany. I'm pretty sure they could kiss in public, since they have pics of them at their wedding kissing. And my uncle was in the Army during the 80s, when he got married also.

The rules, overall, have not changed. If you are trying to say that some part is different, then you should probably specify exactly what it is, instead of acting like your exagerated statement of "I cannot kiss my wife in public without being punished by the military" is true.

And that post answers the question posed in the OP better than all other posts in the thread...
