...so her excuse for being stupid is Jesus?

i wonder how much of that is just pretend-extremism. You know, "sticking it to the man/atheists" or what have you, just to piss them off. Even the most extreme christians i know still have common sense. Im not buying this for a second.

So you think she's lying about being a pentecostal since the age of 16? Did you watch the videos?

Why would she lie?

about being a pentecostal? ...no...but being a "fool for christ", yea. Last time I checked, Galileo managed to not be a fool, and still be a catholic. she's just trying to press buttons, as i pointed out; which is totally in her character.

It's populist yammering.

I've seen this sort of thing before when someone expresses a deep conviction religiously. While I believe it is sincere, I'm not fond of the expression. I believe in a more private and humble expression that doesn't sound like I'm trying to impress outwardly.

Mostly it would depend on her policies that she was pushing. However, her campaigning in a Church is a bit suspect.

Oh come on, all candidates do, don't they?

Anyone who self-identifies as a fool doesn't get my vote, period.

People. Open your bibles. Chill. I know you ****ing HATE her, but dayum! get some persepctive.

1 Corinthians 1:18

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

People. Open your bibles. Chill. I know you ****ing HATE her, but dayum! get some persepctive.

And why do you think quoting a ridiculous book of mythology is going to impress anyone?

Being a fool for Jesus doesn't mean what you think it does, I'm sure.

I give this no more weight than Obamabeing raised a Muslim and claiming to be a Christian after spending 20 years in an Anti-American "Church"
that teaches hate every week.

I dont care if she is in a Church and loves Jesus. I LIKE that. Just so as long as it doesnt effect policy. It depends on what her policies are. Not if she is in a church or if she loves Jesus or not.

Why on earth does truly not liking her, not being enamored of her, looking at her using critical thought, - all of that doesn't equal what it is. It equals "hate." Why is that.

The term "fool for Christ" is used in some circles as an expression of faith. It is based on some statements by Paul, in the Bible. He begins by talking about his extensive education; his position in society (a high one, originally); his ancestry and birthrights, and so forth... and goes on to say that none of that matters. "I know nothing but Christ, and him crucified."

The following passage is primarily where the phrase "fool for Christ" came from, and came into use as an expression of devotion.

1 Cr 1:18-27 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
Where [is] the wise? where [is] the scribe? where [is] the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, [are called]:
But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

The term "fool for Christ" is not so commonly used now as it was twenty or thirty years ago, when the catchphrase was "everyone is a fool about something, so I might as well be a fool for Christ." My old pastor used to say that often.

Given that the term isn't widely used anymore, I'm not surprised that many people misunderstand its meaning today.

And why do you think quoting a ridiculous book of mythology is going to impress anyone?

You know as well as anyone that 70% or more of Americans profess to believe "that book" in some fashion. Why are you asking a question to which you know the answer? Or is it just another opportunity to use one of your favorite derogatory hate-phrases about religion?

I don't care if the woman is lying or crazy I'd never vote for her. Guess what? Most people wouldn't. Most Republicans wouldn't. If she was ugly as a mud fence and was exceedingly bright the press would hardly cover her and she wouldn't be yet another born again bimbo pimping Jesus in order to get elected.

There's a trend here. A segment - most assuredly not the majority - of conservatives is for whatever reason fixated on a certain type of woman. The press plays that segment like a fine guitar. Fox and Drudge run the Christian bimbo for President stories when there's no story. Why? Ratings. Some people just eat that stuff up.

Bachmann doesn't have a chance, not even a little one.

And on another note: Gracious, Mr. Wallace.

Wallace, who pressed her on a series of inconsistencies and gaffes in her past public remarks, then asked, "Are you a flake?"

Taken aback, Bachmann responded "that would be insulting to say something like that," and listed a series of personal, professional and political accomplishments.

In a Wallace Unplugged segment later, the Fox News host acknowledged that the network had received complaints and apologized. "I didn't mean any disrespect," he said.

So why is she doing so well in the polls?

Flash in the pan, darlin'. She's attractive and her name and face appear often in the news. Bachmann likes it like that. The most dangerous place in the world is in between Bachmann and a camera. She's a Fox babe for the time being and she's enjoying the ride.
