I have heard from a number of people that voters don't like Mitt Romney, on part, because of his Mormonism, so, is Romney's religion a detriment to his cause?

Probably is to a lot of people. Huntsman says himself he isn't very religious, but Romney is very religious and that may scare some people. I'm not voting for him regardless though.

His refusal to discuss his religion with the press leads one to believe he is either embarassed of it or is a M.I.N.O.
I don't think he has a chance to win the Christian right vote.

Romney's liberalism is what makes me not want to vote for him. I do not give a damn what religion he claims to be. ROmney is full of **** if he thinks the reason he can't win is because he is a Mormon. The only reason he can't win because he is one of the biggest RINOs in office.

this poll was setup in such a way as to produce worthless results...or is it just me?

The poll was set up to provide a number of choices as to keep people from saying he/she likes/doesn't like him because he/she is a GOP/DEM.

Being a Mormon is note at issue but his Liberalism sure is.

Obamney Care and Cap and Trade are deal killers.

I could vote for three of the choices based on the wording.

His Mormonism doesn't put me off... his relatively leftward lean on some issues does.

Mitt Romney's Waterloo is his own program--Romneycare.

He even beat Obama on this.

So given that a top Republican priority is to REPEAL Obamacare, how in the Hell is Romney going to perform?

And he also says he can "get along" with Democrats.

So.... Romney is DEAD IN THE WATER as a Republican nominee.

I don't think he has a chance to win the Christian right vote.

Or maybe he doesn't feel as though he should be a poster child for his religion.
Or maybe he doesn't feel like his religion should define him.
Or maybe he's as sick of the "omg, religion is key" debate that's been raging since some idiots decide Obama must be muslim.

P.S., Only people who refuse to examine situations outside of their ideology would assume that Obamacare and Romneycare are the same or comparable. The people voted for Romneycare, for one. And there are about 5 other MAJOR reasons why it is completely different.

But cling to ideology, by all means. That'll certainly move us forward.

His faith does not cause me concern, but I do know a lot of people on the Christian Right that it does bother. It is definitely a detriment to his cause.

Romney's religion is probably the reason he has the views and positions that he does. I disagree with those views. I will not be voting for him because of the views he holds, but I couldn't care less that it is his religion that is influencing those views.

Not really. Keeping your private life out of the media as much as possible prevents them from skewering it.

Too liberal? The man is as close to a compromise of both sides as a politician could get. But he's not good enough because he has some "liberal" thinking. Maybe it's not liberal thinking in his head, but simply what he felt was the right course of action. The key things that seem to be against him are

1. religion...because we are such tolerant and just people who adhere to the american ideal of freedom of religion
2. liberalism...because people simply hate liberals
3. he's not a known name...because popularity is an effective meter for skill and leadership

all seem pretty shallow
