Damn - what a resume. . . he's more qualified that Obama ever was, that's for damned sure

I actually like him. . . reduced taxes in Utah - the largest cut in Utah history. Ambassador to China, Missionary, Eagle Scout, faithful to his wife and family, Amabassador to Singapore, Secretery of Commerce, 77% and 57% of the vote for governor of Utah, fiscally conservative and socially mixed.

    Snazzy.

    That's good theory.

I like Jon Huntsman; he's my favorite of the Republican candidates. But that alone is probably proof that he'll never get the GOP nomination. He's a true moderate running at precisely the wrong time, when his party is in the mood to nominate someone more conservative than he is. Besides, several pundits have pointed out his similarities to Mitt Romney. Is there really enough room in this race for TWO technocratic, moderate, patrician, Mormon ex-governors who both appeal to New Hampshire voters more than Iowa voters?

I'm a Democrat and could vote for Jon Huntsman...which is probably why he doesn't have a shot. Nate Silver put it best..."Huntsman is not a top tier candidate...he's a moderate in a party with no interest in electing one." Perhaps if he performs well enough he will get the nomination in 2016.

If he were paired with a solid running mate from the South, he might have a chance. He's extremely photogenic, very articulate, and pretty intelligent.

This is precisely how Obama is going to get elected again.

Most often though, the best candidate doesn't get elected.

Because she/he has to much integrity to pander with appeals to emotion.

Huntsman is the type of Republican that I could vote for. He is not a right-wing nut. He has strong fiscal conservative principles and has proven to be socially moderate. As long as there was some assurance that he would not appoint right-wing activist supreme court judges, I would consider voting for him.

The difference is, Huntsman is more like the Old Romney, before Romney started cowtowing to the radical right-wing of the party.
