No. I think he should go to rehab and return....thus forcing the ETHICS COMMITTEE to actually do their job.

If he can't do his job then he should leave. Taking a "leave of absence" right now, with the issues we're facing, is unacceptable. He should either do his job and seek help simultaneously, or he should step down.

Here's the problem I have with the idea of rehab for Weiner. During his rambling apology he specifically said he didn't do these things because of any kind of problem (like sex addiction) or anything, just bad judgment. Him going to rehab now seems like political expediency rather than sincerity.

I think sex rehab is a joke. He needs to go to douchebag rehab.

I wasn't pissed about the act, it was going around lying about it to everyone who would give him airtime.

And I weary of people in high places running to rehab and getting a pass on their misconduct.

I wish he had just said "Yeah, so what?" the first time he was asked, or at least right after the initial, knee jerk lie humans are prone to.

    But no, he blew it.

    Completely.

    And I like the guy.

    But the sheer stupidity...

I think this question is interesting. I think a lot of Democrats in office are going to feel some pressure to say he should resign, because it's politics, and it's in their best interest to condemn his behavior and distance themselves from it. At the same time, I think the people in his district should be allowed to determine their own future, not the DNC. The people in his district and their opinions obviously matter the most.

It's fascinating how these issues are so divisive and pressing in politics and yet these issues equate to total bull****. I think what Edwards did was really wrong, that's the worst cases of cheating in politics ever, but my political view about it... . Cheating isn't a political issue IMO. I feel bad for the spouses they betray, but my political action has no value or impact on that... I don't feel personally betrayed by John Edwards or Weiner. I really have no strong feeling whatsoever. I don't feel a moral duty to throw them out of office or drag them through the mud, and I honestly don't think most people do unless they have a strong personal connection.
