Don't we already have "laboratories of democracy" at the state level?
Nobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.

Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.

All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

Who would I argue with? Life would be so much less fun without some of the conservatives around here to argue with.

To be honest, I would bet neither. I think a mix of liberal and conservative policies, and change over time is the ideal. The emphasis should just be on liberal policies.

When I see some of the posts and questions I just shake my head and wonder how some people get the way they are, and ask, do some of these people torture puppies, were they abused as kids, what happened?

This Poll falls into the questionable category .

People say they won't, because they're on a public forum.

Ever wish to know the hidden truth?

Of course on here we'd say no. But deep down, Hell yes we would, with style.
If you could control time and space, what use is money?

At one time perhaps. However, the Federal Government has grown so powerful and pervasive that the States are kept on a very short leash. There really isn't the room to maneuver that would be needed for a real set of "laboratories of democracy" to be going on... and hasn't been for at least 50-75 years.
