You obviously have no understanding of what racism is which is ironic since conservatives are always bitching about liberals pulling the racism trigger to often. Accusing the U.S. government of "genocide" does not indicate the blacks are superior to whites. It's a conspiracy theory that comes from legitimate distrust in the U.S. government. When you remember things like this Tuskegee syphilis experiment - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia when the U.S. government purposely kept blacks ignorant of having syphilis and watched them die and pass it on to their children just for government experiments, it becomes easier to understand. In other words, it's legitimate distrust in the government intensified.

The Public Health Service, working with the Tuskegee Institute, began the study in 1932. Investigators enrolled in the study a total of 600 impoverished, African-American sharecroppers from Macon County, Alabama; 399 who had previously contracted syphilis before the study began, and 201 without the disease. For participating in the study, the men were given free medical care, meals, and free burial insurance. They were never told they had syphilis, nor were they ever treated for it. According to the Centers for Disease Control, the men were told they were being treated for "bad blood," a local term used to describe several illnesses, including syphilis, anemia and fatigue.

By 1947, penicillin had become the standard treatment for syphilis. Choices available to the doctors involved in the study might have included treating all syphilitic subjects and closing the study, or splitting off a control group for testing with penicillin. Instead, the Tuskegee scientists continued the study without treating any participants and withholding penicillin and information about it from the patients. In addition, scientists prevented participants from accessing syphilis treatment programs available to others in the area.[citation needed] The study continued, under numerous US Public Health Service supervisors, until 1972, when a leak to the press eventually resulted in its termination. The victims of the study included numerous men who died of syphilis, wives who contracted the disease, and children born with congenital syphilis.
You also neglect to understand that he blames the GOVERNMENT, not the white race.

It's amplified distrust and paranoia based in actual actions by the US government in the past that have knowingly or intentionally targeted black Americans. See my post to Oscar about the syphilis experiment.

Imagine if whites existed in a country that had enslaved their ancestors, considered them subhuman and then until the 1970s performed an experiment on whites that knowingly watched them die and pass a disease on to their children for science instead of treating them. Obviously some white people would be pissed, stay pissed and end up paranoid with conspiracy theories. It wouldn't make them racist.

Why did you only include black people in your poll? What does that say?

On average, African-Americans have about a fifth European admixture, so there's going to be issues of cognitive dissonance and self-hate involved when someone's "racist" against part of themselves.

Institutional racism requires that big parts of society be discriminatory against a racial group in a way that negatively affects them. I don't see that Sharpton and Wright have favored that. Their focus is on advancing blacks, but blacks have been put a few laps behind whites on the track and need advancement to achieve equity.

I voted that Farrakhan and the guy from the New Black Panther Party were racist based on their statements about Jews.

It is interesting how some people want to construe "racist" very broadly in some cases... and very very narrowly in others.

If you've ever heard Wright's preaching, you wouldn't doubt for a second what he is. Farrakhan likewise.

Al Sharpton is probably just a self-aggrandizing racial opportunist, like Jesse Jackson.

No, that's not at all what I said. I said it's ok, IMO, for them to be racist because they were themselvs victims of racism. Turnabout is fair play.
