I was deer hunting and shot a large buck. When we was field dressing him, noticed debatepolitics.com tattooed on his scrotum. When I got home and had a few minutes at my computer, I decided to see what the hell that was all about. Still haven't figured it out.

Anyone know if Vauge has a deer ranch?

He odes not have a deer ranch. He is very fast and does own a tattoo gun though.

I was wandering around the internet in a drunken haze when a small purple light led me to a brothel, 12 hours later I was looking for a treatment for friction burn and ended up here.

And under Obamacare, you're still waitig to be treated. 18 months later.

I misspoke. It was actually a brand, not a tattoo. I bet he has a branding iron too.

Hmm, wonder if he also brands the male mods and DMs on the scrotum.

CL showed it to me and I joined a few months after he did.

Search Engine and a Refugee from RevLeft

Any leftists on here NEVER GO TO REVLEFT! NEVER!

I was one of the owners of the largest chat room at MSN. After MSN shut down their chat servers, I joined a British political message board. God it was horrible there. So I did a Google search and visited a few boards. DP was basically brand new when I strolled in. I must say, it's been quite a journey.

I got bored one day and literally typed in "Debate Politics" into Google, and lo and behold here I am.

I got banned from another forum for sticking up for TacticalEvilDan after he got banned. Retarded forum owner was retarded. I found this place after Googling for political forums. All the other forums that came up were either too boring, too wingnutty or had way too strict moderation. DP was just right and I eventually got TED to join too.

Now you've got my Firefox itching to go there. Why not? Please explain.

Well if you want a bunch of angry pissed of young teenager who think its cool to look up to Stalin then ya go there. If you want a bunch of Stalinists, Hoxahists, and Maoists, who really have no idea what it means to be to the left then ya go there.
1.) Its a repressive site if you are not "left enough" the restrict you.
2.) People there are very ignorant and it seems they are just there because "its cool to be a communist/anarchist/socialist/Stalinist"
3.) Talk about making some fantasy revolution any day now
4.) Upsessed with USSR propaganda.

He-he! I remember all that stuff from my days with the CPB(M-L) as a student. We were highly vanguardist, admiring of Mao and the Great Leap Forward and spent most of our time selling newspapers outside the gates of the last few remaining shipyards on the Tyne.

I think I might swing by there now, just for nostalgia's sake. Do people still believe the revolution is imminent?

Ohh is the CPB(m-L) the party that upholds Stalin as almost god like status and has a sister organization the Stalin society?

And anyways well some people do.... Its kinda sad, because its being proven that we can change things more peacefully now through the ballot box as Castro said that violent revolutions are almost obsolete because we can now do it by the ballot box.

Yup, that's them, still in thrall posthumously to their great leader, Reg Birch.

In theory, although I can't say I can think of a single autocratic regime being ousted by votes alone. Can you? I remain convinced that a revolution of some description will be required to overthrow corporatist capitalism, I just can't see it happening anytime very soon.

Nice nice.
Remember seeing some Stalin Society lectures, i must say they are interesting.

No not in total. But many countries in South America, and parts of Europe and Asia are making huge strides through the ballot box.

I agree that some countries will have to lead an armed revolution but i do not see in succeeding and working anytime soon.

I won't necessarily have to be armed rebellion. Look at the Arab Spring. Few of those movements were armed insurrections, not Tunisia, not Egypt. They haven't succeded yet, but it's a constantly fascinating and potentially precedent-setting development.

I ran a search for Debates looking for the Intelligence Squared debate page and came across this site. I read some of the forums and rules and joined up, I enjoy reading both sides of an issue provided they are presented with facts and opinions without personal attacks or ridicule.

Google is where I learned about DP and it has been fun except for finding that the treatment by some people here is based on you political leanings. If they appose you views some will go nuts.
