Would you be uncomfortable if anybody other than "us chickens" saw how you talk on this message board? Would you feel like you had to explain yourself? Would you be fine, because how you are here is how you are everywhere?

I pretty much handle myself and talk IRL the same way I do here. Except with a lot less "editing."

Ditto...I'd say my comments here are better stated.

Same. Which is not to say that I haven't had a slip or three. By and large, I wouldn't mind if anybody I knew swung through here.

None of your options really fit. I am not just like this away from the message board, in that I don't talk politics nearly as much. I am not however at all ashamed of my posts here and keep trying to talk family members and acquaintances into joining.

Right - but the subject matter wasn't the point. It was comportment.

I don't see how where I park my car has anything to do with how I post.

I'm not allowed to talk politics at work, and my wife agrees with me on most things, so if I want to blow off political steam, I come here.

Being smart-ass is my natural tendency, but I've toned it down considerably over the years. I've even toned it down since I started posting more here.

Those I've worked with for years always seem suprised to learn I'm conservative - tho for the life of me I don't know why. Aside from that, no, I don't think I would feel a need to explain my DP posts.

I'm a bigger jerk here.

I'd actually be more uncomfortable meeting someone from here IRL.

I don't joke around as much at work and I don't ever talk about politics, so there may be a possible issue.

Hummm, interesting question. I guess I'll be the first one to admit that I'm not proud of everything I've posted here. Overall though, I'm pretty much the same person. I don't talk politics much with my RL friends because I know how I can get.

Im pretty much the same here as in real life. My nature is to be very brash. Product of my upbringing-Im neither proud of it nor ashamed of it. I know who and what I am and I am good with it. I am a pretty fierce advocate...it can get ugly when I have to deal with cops or doctors and their attitudes towards certain patients and victims. Thats usually tempered by how readily they call me in other situations. Its funny...in person I have most people believing that I am a bleeding heart liberal for the population I work with and the time (professional and personal) that I put into those communities. At the end of the day I think most people want the right things...we just have radically different ideas on how to achieve those things.

I definitely could (and probably should) temper some of my responses here (believe it or not I delete far more than I post...sometimes it helps just to bang it out). But then...thats not what this place is for me.

To those I have truly offended I feel bad and should apologize. The funny thing is, in the year or so I have been posting on this site I have never not once walked away angry. Sometimes I walk away laughing my ass off...but never angry. I doubt many feel the same way, but I could sit down, BS, and have a beer with anyone here. I could NOT talk POLITICS in that environment with anyone here...but then I seldom do outside of here.

For the most part I wouldn't really care who read what I wrote here. I would feel a bit of a twinge if my folks read what I say here but I would defend myself if necessary. For the most part we agree on a lot of things. But there are a few that we don't. And I don't like argueing with my folks. Seems too disrespectful to me.

Some folks in my offline life might well say that "you chickens" might feel uncomfortable with how I am IRL as oppose to how I am online.

Eh, what you see is what you get. The way I write is the way I talk, because I can type as fast as I can jabber IRL. I've written a post or two in anger in my life that I wasn't particularly proud of and had to apologize for, but overall I'm not ashamed of what I write on line. Well... I guess I wouldn't want my neighbors to read some of my posts from the place that must not be mentioned, because I'm a bit rowdier there than I am IRL.

I'm the same person every day, all the time. I consider it a matter of honor not to say anything to someone on the Internet that I wouldn't say to their face.

Just fine, not like they have access to the lower realms, lol.

Dude. Empty your PM box.

It shows. :)

I don't swear as much here as I do in real life.

i am what i am. same in real life as i am here.

sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken. just be yourself.

Quote of the day. I'll have to work that into conversation somehow tomorrow. Maybe atrribute it to Confucius.

Heh, well, I think my friends would recognize it as definitely the same person. A lot of them were around for my cable commentary days. That was fun. :D

So, I'd be fine with it as far as people I respect.

Work? Well... depends. Being a young person who has not yet acquired a degree, I have two avenues of "work." One is related to the above, and the other is crap jobs to get me through. If it were related to the above, I'd be mostly concerned about my typos being critiqued. ;) If it were related to the jobs that get me through, I suppose I'd be a little uncomfortable, simply because that's not something I talk about in those circumstances.

I swear more IRL than here as well.

But the person you interact with here is the same you'd meet IRL.

Just shorter.
