Comportment question

If my boss (or someone whose opinion I valued) saw this board, I would be

  • Fine. I'm just the same here as I am IRL.

    Votes: 25 80.6%
  • REALLY embarrassed. Or ashamed.

    Votes: 0 0.0%
  • Somewhat uncomfortable.

    Votes: 2 6.5%
  • Other (please specify)

    Votes: 4 12.9%

  • Total voters
    31
There isn't anyone whose opinion I value that much. I post here under my real name and my posts from this site will turn up first in any Google search.

I don't talk politics with people who aren't interested. In general, I try not to talk about my personal life at all. Most people who I've worked with, ever, already knew or at least suspected that I was up to some weird **** in my free time.

I tend to watch my mouth around my moms and other family than here on the board. As in out of respect I try not to be dropping f bombs or cursing a lot.

With friends? I am worse than on here and usually all over the page in reguards to attention span. Thank goodness they love me:2razz:

My boss? I do not curse around at all. I try to keep my politics out of the work place. If they saw my post here? Probably not be some huge shock. But I dunno:shock:

I am the same.. I don't get to talk to that many conservatives in real life.. Probably a good thing too.. The only two conservatives I know are my mother in law, and her father.. Her father by the way, was a republican for over 60 years.. Until Bush.. He actually voted for Obama and has stopped watching Fox News.. I wish I could take credit for that.. My mother in law has also converted.. Having MS and being in her 60's.. She is terrified of Ryans plans and how they will effect Medicare and SS.. She has been a nurse all her life..

To my regret, my language is more refined on the forums than in real life. I am practicing. In general, I am a much more pleasant person online because I can keep people from seeing when I lose control.

Only someone who is partisan would see it is as partisan.. Thanks for the off topic and meaningless post.. If your going to be a jerk and comment on every post that is written in honesty.. Let me know now so I can just put you on ignore.. I wouldn't want you wasting any more pixels on my monitor than you have to..

I am careful in my private life as I don't want to offend my friends nor, owing to the fund raising I do, do I want to put off people willing to support my causes. So I wouldn't want them to see my true liberal nature.

My wife, wouldn't bother me.

Most others, probably not a good idea.
Most/all don't share my political views, they would want to discuss it, I would hammer them and it would cause a fracture in important relationships.

Just expressing my opinion in university got me some looks and lightly heated exchanges.

My boss is the 2nd most conservative man in the world, after my Father. He already knows that I am a Super Liberal so he just wouldn't read any of my gibberish anyway.

I'd be OK either way.

He's right, it was partisan. Comportment has nothing to do with political lean and everything to do with treating people like **** when they don't agree with you. Now, I do have to say that not one person who has posted in this thread has said anything other than what I expected. Because none of the people who Behave Badly at DP on a daily basis has weighed in (as yet).

I am the same opinionated, foot-in-mouth person in real life. I actually encourage the people I know to join the forum.

Would you be uncomfortable if anybody other than "us chickens" saw how you talk on this message board? Would you feel like you had to explain yourself? Would you be fine, because how you are here is how you are everywhere?

No, I pretty much talk like this in real life too. Including all the cursing. I curse as a matter of colloquialism.

I generally have the same demeanor in person, as I do here. I try to be respectful but outright stupidy, hypocrisy, or partisan hackery can arouse a less than civilized response from me. Because of that, I rarely talk politics in real life outside of a select circle of people who's opinions and intellect I respect.

Not in the slightest. I'm probably more polite and more well-spoken here than in real life since here I have time to gather my thoughts and/or cool off before replying to something that pissed me off.

I'm generally more or less maintain the same manner here as in real life. Except for the basement posts

I have a close friend/rival who I enjoy talking politics with. He usually disagrees with most of my political beliefs, and as he and I are so close, we enjoy trashing each other in less civilized manners.

Other than that, my posts here are fairly consistent with my real life manners

Except for the basement posts

I basement post irl regularly. You should, it's good for you. Just make sure you have the upper-hand, physically via some means, or a good escape route.

My thoughts an opinions are the same here as in RL...I try to be as honest as I can...I wouldnt be ashamed at all if people I know knew I posted here...I wouldnt be here if that werent the case
