Is Hatred wrong?

Is hatred wrong?

I use hatred as fuel to burn, in order to achieve goals.

Is that wrong or unsafe?

Wrong? Depends on what you did. Unsafe? I certainly wouldn't trust it.

Passion and hatred are different, though.

Depends on the situation. I hate onions. There's nothing morally wrong with that.

Onions are awesome. Beans however are disgusting and earn my hate.

Many instances everywhere.

:rofl

How do you know when some one is building a strawman? Just look at the quoted post here.

If hatred is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Are you asking me to post such quotes from debatepolitics alone that if something is harmless it is undoubtedly not wrong?

I would think my thread on homosexuality shows that people make that point. My other thread on incest contained some like claims. Perhaps you want me to post a "If harmless it's not wrong" thread?

I don't appreciate you saying I'm using a strawman.

I am and will back myself up.

Please do, with context.

There was never enough of me to make a real human being out of. I'm trying to find what's left of me without my hate, and it isn't much.

That, my friend, is one of the most profound posts I've read on DP.

Hate is not right or wrong, but it does represent a lower level of consciousness. Hate, as well as violence, are relatively unconscious behaviours. They are based in the root or animal mind. Compare that to holistic love and compassion which take self-cultivation and awareness to achieve; those are rooted in the higher mind. I use the words "lower" and "higher" in relativistic ways. Ultimately it's all just mind and consciousness, but the labels help to discern which is conducive to living a life that is closer to being with Divinity. Hate cannot achieve that.

It's why love and hate are opposites. Right and wrong though... those don't really factor into it. That's like saying an ocean is wrong or a forest is right. They're just egoic perspectives about something that just is.

I understand a little better. You're sarcastically nitpicking and will undoubtedly waste time.

You can search my Incest and Homosexuality threads yourself. If you want to nitpick in such a way, for your own entertainment, check for yourself. On your time, not mine. Hell no.

I will post a thread about whether something is wrong if harmless.

So twice now when asked to back up your claim you refuse to do so. Can't imagine why any one would think you where building a strawman when you claim people say something but won't show proof with context.

It's proper. What fuels your power with the Force but your passion? The stronger, darker emotions. Anger, hatred, fear… these passions empower us.

Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.

Are you baiting me?

I just said I'm not going to waste my time gathering posts from those two threads, on a thread about hatred, just to have them ignored. You've got fingers and time, so you can search thoroughly those two threads I'm recommending you search to answer your claim that I'm using a "strawman".

So essentially hatred isn't wrong if not acted upon.

I suppose this goes for pride, envy, greed, selfishness, etc.

There was never enough of me to make a real human being out of. I'm trying to find what's left of me without my hate, and it isn't much.

That is the saddest thing I've ever heard. In knowing you through the words you write, I'd say there is great worth in what is left of you. *hugs*

If there are holes in you, you can use hate to fill them. You can sustain yourself on hatred when you have nothing else to hold onto.

Well said! It seems to be true for some people, unfortunately. Your life becomes what you feed it.

So to feel wicked/sinful/wrong thoughts of murder etc is mentally ill?

There are many sane sinful people. Lawyers, lol, as a vague example.

Mayhaps a new, philosophical thread topic will be born.

Wait a minute! No one said we were talking about lawyers. I thought this discussion was about hatred of other human beings.

As a Christian "hate" really has no place in my vocabulary. It is the opposite of love and that implies allot. Now I can dislike someone or hate something, but I refuse to hate people. I am under no obligation to like them though, lol.

Good on you. It comes down to what you want the world to be or as Gandhi said, "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." We can all find reasons to hate or we can choose to work past it. Often it is not easy.

Hate, which is a human "emotion" such as is love. Emotions are what makes us tick and some are positive and others are negative, but they are all part of our being...........

What may be considered wrong about any emotion is how it is directed.........................

BTW, I do hate many things and some people but only based on personal situations............

Hey now, Mr.Websters, hate is "usually deriving from fear, anger, or sense of injury".

Is it ok to base emotions or actions on fear, anger or a sense of injury? I believe that fear and anger are derrived from ignorance; therefore, hate is "usually" derived from ignorance. Let's note that "sense of injury" is not "injury" and probably represents "victimization", for which we can also find ignorance responsible. If we accept that fear, anger and victimization are based in ignorance, then Websters, does - in fact - say that hate is (usually) based on ignorance. I, personally, would say hate is always derived from ignorance and is only ok in the case of hating evil; basically, one does not need to understand evil people and evil stuff, thus it can be hated. One can be ignorant and despise child-rape. It's simply not reasonable to ask the average person to try to understand such things; however, it is the act that should be hated, not the person.

iirc, the OT said it was ok to hate evil acts and specifically lies. I don't suppose Jesus made a similar remark.

Don't send me PMs. If you don't have the guts to say it publicly, I don't want to hear it.
