So I've noticed a casual link in my life between "dog people" being conservative, and "cat people" being liberal. I thought I'd put it up for a vote.

I'm sorry if there isn't something that describes you - I'm just trying to keep it relatively simple to prove or disprove my basic premise.

I'm a cat person, and a liberal. I like dogs well enough, I just prefer cats for myself.

hmmmm, i am a 100% dog person and am somewhat on the conservative side. I think this does have some truth.

And i absolutely hate cats...

I lean left and am DEFINITELY a dog person. Can't stand cats.

Don't forget to vote! :)

How could you hate such a cuddly pile of evil as a cat?

That's the thing. If I want a pet, I want to interact with it. Cats are not like that. Besides, cats hate me because of my yearbook quote:

"The more you run over a dead cat, the flatter it gets." They've been at war with me ever since.

I'm a bird person.

Holy understatement!

Cats >>>>>>>>>>>>>> everything >>>>>>>>>>>>>>dogs.

Dogs suck, cats own.

The only thing cats are good for are ground up and put in dog food.

Dogs are the more affectionate and interactive of the two, in my vast experience with them. Always had dogs around the house or apartment growing up, with a stray cat moving in now and then. I don't dislike cats, but I have never really felt a bond with them as I have with the many dogs I've known and lived with, including the four we have at present.

I'd like a pet honey badger. Where does that leave me?

I like cats because they're more laid back, don't demand attention or much care, and aren't really annoying.

I lean left.

I bet the cat is cooler and smarter than all 3 dogs put together.

I bet the dogs make the cat think that because the cat has nothing else going for it.

Cats interact just fine. They just won't pretend to want to deal with you, if they don't. I appreciate that honesty, and I also appreciate that they have a standard of how they need to be treated for them to respect you. Dogs will put up with just about anything. It's like that friend you have who always winds up in abusive relationships.

Ah well, that would do it. Cats have a secret society and they remember all these things, you know.

Due to their more independent nature, cat's are great for irresponsible people. So yes, the theory seems to fit.

I have both. Don't go into thinking that is some sort of sign!

Dog food is useless. Cats however are great.

Dog food IS useless. Especially dog food made from cats... which makes cats useless squared.

I was hoping we'd get a little further along before someone started flailing, but since you insist...

Dogs think from authority and not for themselves, so I guess the theory fits.

Cats refuse to connect and are extraordinarily annoying when you want them to leave you alone. Dogs have more respect than that. They also have far more social skills.

Crip really is cool in his own way. Don't let that tough ex-marine exterior fool you.
