Just about an hour before I was born…

I never will forget just before my trip into the body of a baby about to be born, I was somewhere, don’t remember where, but something or somebody asked me to fill out the following:

Pre-Birth Preferences

a) Eye color
b) Hair color
c) Skin tone/shade/color
d) Height
e) Weight
f) Endowments respective to female and male body parts
g) Sex
h) Born into what Socieo-Economic status
i) Intelligence
j) Creative abilities
k) Unattractive, Moderately attractive, very attractive
l) Sexual orientation
m) To be raised by a Single Female Parent – Single male parent – Male and Female Parents -Two Female Parents – Two Male Parents
n) Physical strength
o) Resistant to terminal deceases (please check all subcategories) * list not shown
p) Profession – trade –vocation
q) Financial success
r) Geographical desires

The second I finished filling out list, the next thing I remember was getting my butt spanked. The rest…just normal history like all of my brothers and sisters.

What a neat way to make it to humankind.

Do YOU REMEMBER When you filled out your preference list?

I'm -sure- there's a point to all this...

Good...so every time you decide that somebody else did... You know they didn't choose anymore than you did.
Thanks..
When did I or anyone else decide that someone picked these things out?
Again - I'm sure there's a point here somewhere.

I'm assuming they're referencing ridiculing others based on the above list.

Although many of them are determined by the person rather than being "random" like the others.

My point..."NOBODY" gets to choose, but many of those choices in the list are used to discriminate by those who believe some of those items are a personal choice.

I'm fairly certain that items such as weight, profession, and financial success can be chosen.

What if you have downs syndrome?

What if your born in an African country where hunting to survive is the only profession?

What if born with a genetic predisposition to be heavy even eating a normal, healthy diet. What if you have Cushings disease?

So.... no one should have the fact that they were born into a rich family held against them?

What about the qualities you noted that are a post-birth choice?

Did you choose to be born into a poor, middle class or rich family.

This topic isn't rocket science.

Either you believe that you had a choice in all of the characteristics listed or you didn't. If you didn't then you can't blame others who have characteristics that you selectively don't like

You didn't answer either of my questions.
And - what do you mean by "blame"?

You said "NOBODY" gets to choose. And here you refute that by pointing out minorities and exceptions to the rule.

In reality, most people get to choose those features.

The premise of the thread...CIRCUMSTANCE OF BIRTH, meaning there are so many factors that we don't have a choice over when we're born.

My pre-birth preferences list is a satirical spoof at people somehow believe that's how they acquired immutable characteristics and all of the environmental elements that they arrived in at birth.

The purpose of this thread illustrates that we are born who we are without some personal selection method made before we are born...or by any predetermined means. We Never Got a Choice...EVER...

Bigots and racists believe that all immutable characteristics are a type divine selection. Whatever they specifically possess in the way of immutable characteristics are divinely created superior over all others.

Circumstance of birth is simple to understand. As far as I know, I didn't get to pick any of my physical characteristics before birth. I didn't get to pick my parents. I didn't get to pick the country in which I was born. And I didn't get to pick my sexual orientation. I was born with it.

NO, I didn't learn how to be a heterosexual.

Did you choose all of your physical attributes, you parents, where you would be born, etc. PRIOR TO BIRTH?

IF YOU DIDN'T...nobody else did. If nobody else did...then how can any person be a bigot or a racist...IF NOBODY had a CHOICE!

Might want to put it back in. ;)

.

Haha, that's a hilarious one. :giggle1:

You don't choose, it's your Father who sends you to school and decides where you belong. :) It's that simple. :2wave:

Not before you're born...you don't choose.

Now, if you get to choose your father...groovy...you are indeed a very special person.

Not father but Father. ;)

He decides where you would learn your lessons best. And makes you yellow, black, red, white, etc.

Yep, that's what I figured.
This is all straw.

I'm pretty sure your profession and weight aren't predetermined at birth. You choose whether or not to eat that food, and what you enjoy doing. You choose whether to try hard in school or to blow it off. You choose whether to accept that job or not, or to even apply for it.

Unless you're implying some sort of divine force has an effect, which is quite amusing.

I believe you're trying to make a point that we shouldn't judge others based on things beyond their control. That's all fine and dandy and I wholeheartedly agree, but some of the things you listed AREN'T beyond a lot of people's control.

You're getting better...

You're almost right, but why can't everything be predetermine prior to birth?

Look GS...If any one of those items on the list was remotely possible...then we'd know that there IS NO SUCH THING as "Circumstance of Birth.

In one of my previous post I made clear that this entire thread is a satire...used to make a point that nothing is predetermined. NOTHING!

Do you believe sexual orientation is learned or circumstance of birth?
