After reading The_Patriot's post about his dad's comments following Waco, and knowing my own feelings on the subject, have any of you considered relocating. If so, where would you move and why.

No I never have. But my wife considers going to Canada from time to time, like when Bush won the second time or when Branstad was elected again here in Iowa. :coffeepap

Sometimes, I get - not scared, but really concerned that things could just go ass-over-teakettle here, and I'd rather not be around when it happens.

Sounds like my wife. I figure that can happen anywhere. I prefer the devil I know.

Surely not anywhere?

When I thought I was going to be rich (don't ask) I seriously considered Panama. I don't know how I feel about Canada, except that it's not so very far away from me.

And of course I don't want to go anywhere where they think of us as "Ugly Americans."

I don't even know if I would move to a different state. Having lived all over the country (North California, Florida, Oklahoma, Michigan, Indiana)..I don't think anything feels as much like "home" as Texas. I would consider moving north in the summer, though. Maybe to the U.P. of Michigan...but I'm home and I love it here. Hell or high water.

I'm the same with Minnesota. Always and forever. BUT: Do you ever worry about our country staying as wonderful as we perceive it to be?

I only saw Panama from the jungle for a day (enough for me). Not sure I'd want to go there. But yeah, given time and circumstance, almost any palce can go to hell.

I had considered moving to Canada. In Canada pharmacists have a much wider range of practice and I've always personally liked Canada. I've also considered moving to Japan. Of course I would greatly miss my family, but I could leave America.

I feel like we're already heading to hell in a hand basket and it is scary. But I'm not convinced we'll be a 3rd world country any time in my lifetime.

That's all you feel close to here, is your parents?

About the only place I'd consider moving to would be Costa Rica. I hear it's very friendly to US ex-pats.

I went to school at the University of Northern Michigan in the UP. I'd love to live there. Great place.

What do you call those people - survivalists. I wonder how far from reality they are. I mean, if that which they fear comes upon us, they're going to be the only ones who are prepared.

No, I have some very wonderful friends that I would miss dearly as well. I kinda include them in my family (along with siblings, etc). If I ever moved out of the country I would do my best to visit as frequently as possible.

Having lost my daily quota of hugs, I can see where that would suck (never getting those hugs anymore) but you'd have the net, and if you all had video cams you could shoot the bull for as long as you wished. :)

O hai. :D I'm to the NW of the Twin Cities metro.

Close enough. Stayed at a BB in that direction a few years ago. Did a mystery dinner. Something else the wife loves. ;)

My sister and I have to hit one of those someday. I know it's something we'd enjoy.

Survivalists shouldn't be confused with crazy militia shoot people types.
Although there are some blended groups, most are not like that.
